<div class="IPBDescription">alive against all odds!</div> I have the greatest story. I was on the marines playing bast and we killed all the hives but two aliens were still alive. Thanks to the no-hive kill we knew they must be at a dc somewhere. well the motion sensors said they were under the map and we couldn't figure it out so we followed the blue circles till we got to a bridge outside the refinery and then we realized they must be in that long underwater tunnel that links to feedwater. we swim down there and theres two gorges, CHILLIN' next to some dcs. We open fire but our guns don't work! So one guy tries to knife them. He gets one of them but the other moves away and he drowns. But the last gorge was pushed far enough from the dcs that the no-hive kill takes him out. It was a valiant effort on those gorges part to stay alive but I think it would have been a lot more epic without the no-hive kill. Yes I know, we would have sieged them eventually but I just thought that was so ingenious and I had to share.

I wan´t to hear a story about a succesful comeback with the new patch. Anyone?
There are some benefits...
Sorry, two Gorges hiding out in a waterway aren't Valiants. Valiants are gorges who are intense enough (or outright psychotic enough) to bring an Alien team back from zero-hive. Something that pretty much can't happen with v1.03, unless they somehow DC-build-walk their way through the vents toward a Hive.
REMOVE THE AUTOKILL! It cheats us psycho Gorges who think they can still win. (And sometimes CAN. I've done it *twice* under v1.02)

so you *keep* saying
(edit) Okiedoke. Though we have a dissenting voice.. nah, raccoons aren't needed, just run-of-the-mill jarheads with too much confidence in having 'won'. (/edit)
If say the entire marine team gets replaced with raccoons who are unable to prevent a gorge from rebuilding at one of the other two turreted hives or the one they just destroyed.

Hell: My buddy Kaewan did it yesterday, on a 1.03 server. He was putting up defenses at the second hive location, because they had rushed it earlier (and were pushed back). The second time they rushed our main hive, and were killing it.
Kaewan knew they were gonna lose it, so he ran into the hive location, and *just* managed to get the hive building. He was the only alien alive for the duration of the building, and he couldn't do squat. With no hives, you can't even build offense chambers!
Anyways, there was *just* enough defense to keep the marines at bay until the hive was up, and they made a miracle comeback, taking the original hive location back, and killing the marines with two hives (not even using bile bomb and all that). Awesome game. Would have sucked if he had died while running back to the hive location.

if i didnt enjoy doing it so much, id say it was unfair <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
VERY LAME ! ! ! !
GOOD system!
i think maybe the devs just couldn't be bothered or it need sto be implemented in a client release for this thing coz it could be quite complex
Adding autokill for Aliens was a bad call, no offense to Flayra.

I don't think it was a bad call, because some moron players will park themselves in a vent and wait for the marines to come to them. The reasoning for implementing it makes perfect sense.
However, I feel the "time left until you die" is too short. If the aliens had maybe 90 seconds before the "slow death" thing kicked in, the aliens might actually have a chance at a comeback.
However, if the marines have taken out all three hives, there's almost certainly going to be siege cannons set up around every frickin' corner of the map (<i>in typical marine-winning fashion, it seems</i>), so it'd be useless to try and rebuild a hive.
Hehehe, I burst out laughing when that picture was finally displayed, and that's something I rarely do at 2:30 in the morning (<i>the roommates generally aren't pleased at being woken up in the middle of the night when they have to work the next morning</i>). <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I've played games where the marines were quite the shots, and they rushed our main hive... One gorge is out at another hive saving up resources, while the skulks are trying to defend the hive against 5-6 marines with a commander dropping health packs as if he had a machine gun that spits out health packs.
As it stands, they could take the hive, and the gorge is way on the other side of the map saving up resources... No siege to stop him, often he's baricaded himself in too (if the marines tried for that hive first).
Why should that gorge die?
If the skulks rush the marines and take out the spawns, but the commander jumps out of his chair and cleans the room (or turrets do for him). Should he die due to no infantry portals? He can simply drop another one and build it himself. Boom, the marine team respawns, watches for the rush this time (hopefully), and the game continues.
It only makes sense.
