Valiant Gorges

<div class="IPBDescription">alive against all odds!</div> I have the greatest story. I was on the marines playing bast and we killed all the hives but two aliens were still alive. Thanks to the no-hive kill we knew they must be at a dc somewhere. well the motion sensors said they were under the map and we couldn't figure it out so we followed the blue circles till we got to a bridge outside the refinery and then we realized they must be in that long underwater tunnel that links to feedwater. we swim down there and theres two gorges, CHILLIN' next to some dcs. We open fire but our guns don't work! So one guy tries to knife them. He gets one of them but the other moves away and he drowns. But the last gorge was pushed far enough from the dcs that the no-hive kill takes him out. It was a valiant effort on those gorges part to stay alive but I think it would have been a lot more epic without the no-hive kill. Yes I know, we would have sieged them eventually but I just thought that was so ingenious and I had to share.

Just cuz you lose all of your hives doesn't mean you have lost the game, I really hate (yes, so much someone should be shot for this) the no-hive kill, cuz you HAVEN'T LOST, I nearly turned the game in 1.02, but just as we were gonna take the second hive we got baseraped, <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->. I had bad players on my team, sadly, but we had no hive for a while, and if they hadn't raped us we would have won. Surely. It would never have happend in 1.03. Suxx.

Happened in a game yesterday. Aliens with no hives left. We were all dead except 1 Gorge and 1 Fade who had hid in a vent in ns_bast with loads of DC´s and the marines couldn´t find them because they didn´t move so motion tracking was useless. They coald have made a comeback but the marines decided to put up sieges all over the map so it eventually got them.

I wan´t to hear a story about a succesful comeback with the new patch. Anyone?

well, the no-hive kill is a good way to prevent newbie llamas from being stuck playing other newbie llamas for too long..
    There are some benefits...

Me and another gorge and some cahmbers, that we more or less built as we were fighting once held of a concentrated attack of 5 marines I think, and then they kept on coming, one after another. We must have killed 12 marines or something it was very cool, and we were very close to dying.

Hellbilly- If that happens, remind your Commander of the <b>SENSOR SWEEP</b> button. You can find _anything_ with that. And if the Xenos move to avoid it, *blip*, up they come on motion tracking.

Sorry, two Gorges hiding out in a waterway aren't Valiants. Valiants are gorges who are intense enough (or outright psychotic enough) to bring an Alien team back from zero-hive. Something that pretty much can't happen with v1.03, unless they somehow DC-build-walk their way through the vents toward a Hive.

REMOVE THE AUTOKILL! It cheats us psycho Gorges who think they can still win. (And sometimes CAN. I've done it *twice* under v1.02)

But the flaw in that is that there were two. Only one is needed to get the Hive up ASAP. Unless they were trying to get BOTH Hives up at once.. which is kinda silly, but would be cool, and possible from that location on that map.

Some people need to be reminded of the possibility, as it's pretty much assumed by most that once Aliens lose their last Hive, they're done for. Which is usually true. But sometimes the coin lands on its edge.

(edit) Okiedoke. Though we have a dissenting voice.. nah, raccoons aren't needed, just run-of-the-mill jarheads with too much confidence in having 'won'. (/edit)

If say the entire marine team gets replaced with raccoons who are unable to prevent a gorge from rebuilding at one of the other two turreted hives or the one they just destroyed.

Hell: My buddy Kaewan did it yesterday, on a 1.03 server. He was putting up defenses at the second hive location, because they had rushed it earlier (and were pushed back). The second time they rushed our main hive, and were killing it.

Kaewan knew they were gonna lose it, so he ran into the hive location, and *just* managed to get the hive building. He was the only alien alive for the duration of the building, and he couldn't do squat. With no hives, you can't even build offense chambers!

Anyways, there was *just* enough defense to keep the marines at bay until the hive was up, and they made a miracle comeback, taking the original hive location back, and killing the marines with two hives (not even using bile bomb and all that). Awesome game. Would have sucked if he had died while running back to the hive location.

hehe, yeah...good old bast underwater...build 2 ocs on each side of you, 3 dcs betwen them, and hide in there and watch the entire marine team go after the ocs with knives and get owned <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I like the kill-the-Aliens system... I hate when a Gorge or a Skulk leaves the computer - they usually hide too. I played on a map ( Can only remember eclipse, wich is my favorite map <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ) and a little lamer was hiding on some pipes near a Hive. ALL the Aliens said where he was, but the Marines missed him all the time, and he dragged out the game for about 20 minutes......... The Marines had a crappy commander, who was still learning and he didn't use that scan until I told him too.

    VERY LAME ! ! ! !

    GOOD system!

Wot they really need to do is implement a system that knows wen someone is just hidin for the hell of it basicly making it kill the player if he his while if it has a chance of coming back it leaves it basicly
i think maybe the devs just couldn't be bothered or it need sto be implemented in a client release for this thing coz it could be quite complex

It's called the 'five man system' and it already works. If one team is up on the other by five people (only able to be if five leave from one team due to auto-balance) then the higher-player team wins. So if all the Aliens but one on a six-man team went to the RR, the Marines would auto-win. The autokill REALLY isn't needed. In fact, if anything the Marines should be autokilled when they have no CC and no IP left. THEY can't go build another one, if there isn't one already up somewhere. Aliens can. Whereas a Marine Commander can just scan the vents with Sensor Sweep, the Aliens have to run around and physically look.

Adding autokill for Aliens was a bad call, no offense to Flayra.

How about Marines lost health when there's no command console to even it out.

I don't think it was a bad call, because some moron players will park themselves in a vent and wait for the marines to come to them. The reasoning for implementing it makes perfect sense.

However, I feel the "time left until you die" is too short. If the aliens had maybe 90 seconds before the "slow death" thing kicked in, the aliens might actually have a chance at a comeback.

However, if the marines have taken out all three hives, there's almost certainly going to be siege cannons set up around every frickin' corner of the map (<i>in typical marine-winning fashion, it seems</i>), so it'd be useless to try and rebuild a hive.

I've played games where the marines were quite the shots, and they rushed our main hive... One gorge is out at another hive saving up resources, while the skulks are trying to defend the hive against 5-6 marines with a commander dropping health packs as if he had a machine gun that spits out health packs.

As it stands, they could take the hive, and the gorge is way on the other side of the map saving up resources... No siege to stop him, often he's baricaded himself in too (if the marines tried for that hive first).

    Why should that gorge die?

If the skulks rush the marines and take out the spawns, but the commander jumps out of his chair and cleans the room (or turrets do for him). Should he die due to no infantry portals? He can simply drop another one and build it himself. Boom, the marine team respawns, watches for the rush this time (hopefully), and the game continues.

    It only makes sense.
