<div class="IPBDescription">stop going change crazy!</div>Srsly guys, NS1 is an awsome game, a few flaws here and there and running on an old engine, on top of that it didn't get much advertising attention from the start.
I'm still a bit skeptical on the whole alien commander thing and the loss of the pistol. I'm becoming more and more concerned that NS2 will try too hard to change everything while still keeping it balanced and end up being one of those games that was obviously made by trying too hard. I bought the $40 version pre-order and i have high hopes, you all have my full support and i'll contribute as much as i can but i'm worried for the sake of this game.
so please, dont change it too much.

I will tell you a phrase... and this phrase is:
Change is good.
Change is good.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I think it's more so that change is scary and unpredictable, never 100% good.
I once pondered why do people fear change and i think the reason can be seen in all mammals. Basically it's all about being in tune with your current environment for the sake of survival. It's about being territorial... protecting your current situation. Somewhere along the line that became instinct and all of us know for certain that change can be hazardous.
Also one more thing is 100% certain and that is one way or another everybody will find some point about NS2 which they regret. But it's probably the norm because their's a ton of things about NS1 that i still don't appreciate.
The good thing is i just read <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=107268" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=107268</a>
And the janitor / super-administrator assures us that we will not be seeing a retarded taser but instead still be keeping our sidearms.

Didn't know we were going to turn this into a evolution discussion.
The OP came off as the same type of person who would literally consider smashing all his fingers if VALVE were to do balance changes and add new weapons to Counter Strike, just so he wouldn't have to play it again.
It's like how all the people who still play CS 1.6 that have not moved to CS:Source, and having a crappy computer is not an excuse (after 10+ years).
Change is good.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Oh how neive humans can be.

i am skeptical as well on the whole alien commander role. i personally dont like it. i believe that aliens should have an entirely different gameplay style very different from the marines.
except when its coming from this person

I'm surprised at the amount of resistance towards the idea of a new NS game. any one who claims that the game play changes wont work is merely speculating and nothing good can possibly come from it.
And the uproar over some of the models is embarrassing, it's as if the loud minority forgot that the models can be replaced very easily.
The game will come out and some people will like it while others will decide that they don't. I only hope that those that don't like the game decide against trolling the forums and stirring up large amounts of QQ.

Nice . . .
Anyway. I think some change is good, but . .. . . .
If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I agree... I mean why put heavy armor back in but leave out Devour, or why remove parasite. Why even try to remove something that makes you think of that class?
When you think of a onos's you first think of... Devour, devour is good at taking down heavy armored marines.
When you think of a skulk you think of paracite, skulks are good at scouting.
When you think of gorges you think of the unit that drops the chambers right?
I think if all else fails, they should atleast give us all a option to play a 'oldschool ns1' mode with ns2 graphics, and then judge what people want more to move on. Or maybe just leave us with both options just because it would encourage people who dont like change [like alot of people who were dissapointed with the removal of devour] to play ns2 if they havent ordered yet [like a few people I have known] They refuse to play NS2 because of all these changes. They now have their own doubts and I have my own. I gave the 40$ in pre-payed because of Ns1, not because of this change. I'm sure many other people did so, in confidence that some nostalgia would remain. But it looks like they are remolding everything, It could possibly alianate a few old school players.
Gorges are changed for the better too, instead of being a builder they are more into the fight but not actually fighting.
I for one would hate an NS 1 clone cos i've got that to play, and is possibly easily modded using the tools.
I don't know what goes through your minds if you thought ns2 was ns1 /w graphics port. from what i've heard its an entirely different game almost, fade is no longer the main mid game fighting unit it is now the surgical striker, gorges are no longer the builder they seem to have taken the role of the lerk on actually, the lerk might be different then, the onos is not just some alien unit for carrying away a marines hmg or heavy armor it is the beast you dont wanna shoot from the front but instead its big round butt.
too many diferences they shouldnt have called it natural selection 2 at this rate it has given alot of people false impressions.
