Taking Out Turretfarms

its easy
Ok I dont want to brag, but so far I havent seen anyone as proficient in destroying turretfactories as myself. Ok that is bragging...anyway
Its not hard at all, especially since commanders are either to stupid or stressed to place them properly, and even then there is ALMOST always a little glitch in the defence that you can exploit. I think many players are just discouraged by the look and sound of all those turrets so they prefer to take another way. Thats a big mistake, always take out turret factories and all surrounding buildings at any chance you get. Ok heres how you do it, first recon, check out the best way of approach, and remember its the turretfactory you want. First look if there is a blindspot somewhere around the turrfactory, meaning a place were you can stand and bite without the turrets hitting you. In many many cases there are, although it often doesnt look that way. May take a bit of practising. Just press yourself very close to the turrfactory and youll get more cover than you think.
Then sometimes one of the turrets hit you but very seldom so you will be able to take out the factory before you are dead.
These days commanders are getting better though and place turrets so there are no blindspots, then if you can, take out that one tower you need to get rid of to create a blindspot. Just circle around it or run back and forth in a semicircle if a complete circle isnt possible and bite bite bite. You can be further away than you think when you bite. Then just go for the turr factory.
Then there are those cases when its impossible to use any of these techniques and there will always be 2 turrets firing at you however you approach. Run around and bite wildly at the turrets that you need to take out the turr factory, exposing yourself as little as possible for the other turrets, and when youre starting to get wounded or die for that matter, just come back again for another go and those turrets willl be dust in no time. The most important part is the recon, dont be discouraged by the turrets, their accuraccy is awful! Just keep moving and youll be fine.

As a last tip, its a good idea to use carapace if you wanna go turrethunting.

Or go lerk, I find the lerk a more effective solo turret farm destroyer, (although he does need umbra to survive, it takes him less time as he can sit there and munch away)

Also get some backup, 2 skulks attacking a turret means there are 2 targets to trace, even if one doesnt make it, the other will most likely finish the turret and start on the factory. Friends always make it easier

Hmm well the problem is that you seldom have room in the blindspot for more than one skulk.

If you are good with skulk, you can get regen instead of carapace. Find a safe spot on the ceiling above the turret factory, go down for a quick nibble, go back up to recover, then back down for a nibble, etc etc, until the TF is down. Sometimes works out faster than repeat attacks with carapace.

Sometimes you can get a friend to hide behind a structure like a seige turret, so all the turrets are aimed at him but not hitting him, and you can just drop in from above onto the turret factory.

Yeah, remember that turrents can only fire at a max 60 degrees from the ground and 30 degrees below the ground. If you can get above that range you just have to drop down and munch and go back up. One time I just sat on the wall above the turrent and just munched it going up and down the wall (the turrent was against the wall). Other times I just stay above the turrent above it's vertical range. Since it's still tracking me, another teammate usually comes in and munches it while it's trying to reach me. Hehe.

There's been sooo many times when I've leaped behind a factory as a skulk and happily bitten it into tiny shards... amateur commanders are the Kharaa's best friend Failing that, Fades with a horde of defence chambers/helpful gorges to regroup by with Lerk support are just the best...
I'm actually starting to think that an active phase gate at a factory should be a primary target, as marines tend to be more aware of their surroundings than turrets. Usually. Without marine aid, a badly-placed factory is just fodder. With the aid of decent marine players... well, then causing famine at the turret farm becomes pretty damn challenging...

I sometimes find that I can 'go into' a turret factory, just enough to avoid the turret line of fire.

Marine turrets now, in my opinion, are a joke.

It used to be fairly easy to kill a turret as a skulk before dying, even if theres 3 other constantly shooting you. Ok, well - it's not that easy, but I can usualy do it 80% of the time.

Now that all you have to take out is the turret factory ... LOL

It's not even hard anymore! It used to take some degree of skill to actually remove turrets, but now, even if theres 6+ its rather easy.

Even if you cant get in close with a Skulk, you can take it out long distance as a Fade or Lerk! You don't even have to get near the turrets to destroy them!

    LOL

Anyway, as you may be able to see, I don't really like the new system, but since I favor the Kharaa anyway, bah ...

Hey, if someone's stupid enough to build three turrets with their factory directly behind them, it's our solemn duty as Kharaa players to eat the factory then mercilessly eviscerate any nearby victims...

How else will they learn proper turret placement?
