Marine Taunt/Scripted Voice Communication

I urge everyone to simply post some funny sayings that you might like in the game. Keep it clean please.
Also try to keep the 'feel' of the game about you in the context of the message.

1:"Oh my god... Billy... I think ... I think we should..."
2:"RUUUUUUNAHHHHHHHHHHHH~!!!"

Maybe some taunting while you shoot?

1:"Get some!" "You like that!?!?" "Awww look at him scamper off!"
2:"You let him get away!"
1:"Nah I just let him go get more for us to kill!"

... My ideas suck... Maybe you guys could do better.

Yes this is similar to Left 4 Dead... And any other game where your 'characters' talk for that matter...

But if there are enough of them and they are extremely rare it can be really funny. As long as you don't hear all of them in 1 gaming session of a couple maps. This could be nice.

    Player 1: "After all this is over...I'm buying everyone a beer!"

    if they were fitting and didn't last 15 minutes then I think they would add to the game, as well as have a stretegic/gameplay addition. Just like in real life, there is always the guy who won't whutup when it's time to shut it. As long as it wasn't going off constantly this would be great. Maybe during firefights or swift (sprinting) movement the game would "see" this and auto add in stuff (like L4D), but when everyone is silently creaping about and no gun fire has gone off the game would have whispering and things that would be fitting the moment.

    Creeping through a dark hallway and hearing someone saying "Keep your eyes peeled" would add something to the moment. Also after a kill based on the alien killed you could add a fitting taunt or whatever you want to call it. Killing a gorge would prompt the Marine to say "did you see that little bugger pop!?" vs a fade going down, which would be more like "Holy ######, you see the size of that thing!?"

    Other then finding fitting moments and somehow getting the game to detect when to play the appropriate "taunt," the other points that I can think of now which would need to be addressed are these:

    1. Randomness, or not playing them after EVERY fade kill or skulk death. It would have to be spread out ALOT otherwise people would turn it off. I think hearing it only a couple times each game/"match" would probably be fine.

    2. Variety. The ones in NS1 got old after abuot a week. You would have to include many so it wouldn't feel like a record player on repeat...

    3. Quality. Allowing bobby joe and sally sue to do the voice acting would be an instant checkmark to the OFF button/box. Other then using a gender appropriate and age appropriate person to do each voice set, I don't see why this would be so hard. Just chooce a couple dozen middle aged folks from each gender group to match the male and female characters in the game and your golden. Maybe give them a script to read off of and see what they come up with, no royalties paid, period. I would do it for free :D

    4. Having it "play" so only the people in the vacinity could hear it would be fitting. In NS1 I would hear chatter and the people would seem to be far away (distance wise), so maybe have it follow the other mic suggestion in the other htread (too lazy to find it). Basically anyone in the room can hear it.

    I really like the taunting in gears of war. After you get kills they say the coolest things.

    You're deep in skulk territory. Twice already you've heard the pitter-patter of wall-climbing dogs scurrying past, but each time you duck into an alcove or around the corner. You're trying to get a sneaky phasegate built, but patrolling skulks are not making your task any easier.     It wouldn't use an idleshout when there are enemies in hearing range.
    But, yeah. Automatic taunts would annoy the marines more than the aliens I guess.

    In this conclusion: No idlesounds for aliens whatsoever! Anyone have ever heard a gorge fart when a heavy's stomping through the hallway above it? Got me killed twice at least!!

    This is a cool idea.
    To avoid the idlesounds giving you away while ninja-ing, they could be marine-only, so only rines can hear them.

    Marine after close combat kill: "Damn. Icky."
    Marine after pistol kill:"High noon. Boom!"

    They shouldn't say anything when they notice alien presence. Just like they keep talking and talking then a clicking sound come from the vent. Everyone shuts up automatically in fear.

    They should keep shouting again when the alien start attacking.
