Grid based alerts

<div class="IPBDescription">Color coded</div>I suggested this idea in the Fairness thread. I gave the idea some thought and decided to post here for other people ideas/suggestions. The base idea comes from an easy way to communicate to players what you want to do, colors (Like a traffic light). We could make use of the new grid design of maps. On the main map maybe it could show real time action by a color code. Say heavy fire would be be indicated by Red, some fire indicated by Yellow, and no fire by green. A very rough idea and could use polishing but what do you all think? What better way of getting people places then saying go to sector 5 Red ALERT lol

    Sounds good. It could tie into the power grid that all ready exists.

    Yeh, I can't see any big downside as long as it doesn't block any other information. I don't know if the power grid system alone is enough to direct the player to the fights though.

    The idea would be something that is easily noticable but not obtrusive to the senses. Nothing like a mspaint bucket dropping red down. The trick would be, What would trigger this alert? Weapons fired? Commander? Team pressence? I would like it to be based of something real time maybe as in aliens sighted or contact made.

    Dealt damage should be pretty decent indicator. It doesn't give away anything the players can't see and yet it certainly indicates a fight.

    It could be damage taken from players, not so hard to filter. And colour could be indicated on powergrids borders, so we wouldn't get full red or green map.

    You could even relate it to the RT health seeing as there powering the whole sector.

    Could be for both marines and aliens :) but like someone said nothing so bold as the entire sector being red but maybe along the edges or something.
