NS2 needs our help, start singing the fighting songs
Yeah I know it's a silly title :p

Anyway... no offence, but the last UWE update sounded like a semi-call for help. Therefor I issue this call to action. I suggest we all go forth and pester the living hell out of all our friends who loved NS1 but still haven't pre-ordered NS2. I don't know about you guys, but think I know somewhere between 4-8 such people, so...

So I say let's roll up our sleeves and get to it! WHO'S WITH ME??

Oh, and protip: Give NS2 pre-orders as xmas gifts =D

I already thought about buying one extra as a Gift.

UWE should think about giving out like 10-50x Pre-orders for free as some event prices or something, would be a good way to draw some more attention :D

90 views and only 2 replies ... to be honest I was expecting more enthusiasm ...

*EDIT* on second thought ... every single post has a low posts/views ratio ... I guess many people just looked at my post and silently approved, then...

A lot of guest users read these forums and don't post for the same reason they don't pre-order: lack of a finite date or gameplay representation.

You have a point, but many a fan of NS will still pre-order just to give something back for the countless hours of fun that NS1 provided.

Hell, I'm willing to bet that a great majority of NS fans played NS1 10x more than the average game that they bought at the store.

When I saw the screenshots from the 30th I ordered consolation because I already ordered the game but wanted to give them some extra money to help support the mod. If they were public traded I would seriously try to throw them a few grand because I know this game will take off.

They did, that's why about 95% of preorders were for the special edition version at $40.

Because of that UWE were able to put game concepts back in which initially had to be cut and now they're able to make a AAA title, this is another reason for the delay.
Right now UWE doesn't seem to be strapped for cash, just struggling with time.

I think this is exactly what it is. Sure, strapped for cash might mean that they haven't hired another person or 2 yet but I think they want to stay as small a dev team as possible and this results in them being late in deliverables (which they aren't- technically- yet). Color me a ######, but I'll order the game as soon as I see in-game footage and read a positive review or two.

Heres the major flaw in your asumption. Did you ever play Deus Ex? Well the first one was probably... no, it was the best fps-rpg game ever made. I cannot think of another game that has even come close to it's pure awesomeness!

Well, a while after they finished it and all hopes of a sequal were forgotten they eventually released Deus Ex 2! Oh my god were my hopes high and my dream filled with stealth action shootin and secretive dialog. (pardom my spelling) I had followed every overhyped screenshot, every positively reviewed movie, every "this is going to be the best game ever" webpage entry, every great preview/review... but in the end it was ######. Complete ######. So, even the best game ever made for a certain genre, can have a completely horrible sequel follow it. Seriously folks, the second one sucked ass.

Anyways, I now wait until I see some gameplay movies {not cinematic crap, but actual gameplay) and at least a few actual (non-photoshopped) screenshots of the finished product. If you want to order it for someone else I think that's awesome! Anyone of us would love that of course, but there is a logic behind the idea of waiting sometimes, and this is only my personal view/idea, others have their own, so please don't take offense to them.

    I agree on both counts:
    1. A sequel can suck badly. (I loved Deus Ex and absolutely hated Deus Ex 2. Even the interface was a laggy piece of crap).
    2. Its hard to push money at something when you don't know if it will ever be any good; or even be released.

I was really hoping that UW would at least release some beta-quality tools by "Fall 2009", even if the game couldn't even make it to alpha. The day that happens, I may buy another copy of NS2.

FYI the last two screenshots were not photoshopped and in fact were not altered in any way.

I didn't hesitate to pre-order for myself, partially as thanks for the awesomeness of NS1, but I wouldn't convince a friend who hadn't played NS1 to simply pre-order NS2, because there is a possibility that it may suck. Screenshots aren't enough to tell.

I allready did and still doing my part, told lotz of people on steam to cheack out NS2 some of them even started playing NS1, but still the majorty of people that might pre-order wanna see actual gameplay and belive me Ive told lotz of people only thing left is to wait for UW to make their move.
I myself pre-orderd the SE, and I will be doing my part as a member of this community by telling more people, spreading the word even more and help out when game is out by maybe having a dedicated server plus dozen of other ideas that i got, but all in its time.

OK, first of all ... Deus Ex 2 suffered from console syndrome. Today games don't suffer from this that much but back in the day when the large PC names were migrating over to the consoles this syndrome was BAAAAAAAAAD. I don't think NS2 is comparable to DX2 at all.

Second, I'm not asking you to harass your friends PERIOD. I'm asking you to harass the friends that actually played and liked NS1 =) if they hesitate because there's no gameplay demonstration, then just ask em why they don't take the risk just to say thanks for NS1 (20 bucks aint so much...)

Wrong. Many game and full dev companies (Bethesda, EA, Lucas Arts...) suffer from lazy consol-itis (ports).

Also, I did not believe I compared Dues Ex 2 with Natural Selection 1. I used it as an example to show how many wonderful games, are still followed by horrible sequels. But, I don't think anyone has played the full version of NS2 yet, so it's not fair to say it will be good or not. I sure as hell hope so, because it was one of the best HL mods ever created!

I support every game I play. If they can follow a great mod with a great full game then I think it's fair to say everyone here will buy it. That's why we post here and talk about NS2 :D

Hmm, yes I am forced to admit that console lazyness is still often bad ... but what I meant is that it's not quite as bad anymore.

But I still don't think that Deus Ex 2 qualifies as a good example of sequelitis in games, because the game was not just handicapped, but HARMED a great deal by it's move to console. We will never know if the game would have been good had it stayed on the PC.
