PREDICTION: Spark Editor is ruining NS2 new player interest?

FIX: get rid of the excessive Sparks Editor discussion here?
Perhaps new people who are interested in NS2 but know little about it and/or little about NS, may get confused whent hey go to the "NS2 General Discussion" forums, and see it flooded with discussion about something called the Sparks Editor when they don't see a link to download it officially from the NS website? Is the Sparks Editor intended to be for those who have already pre-purchased the game? If that is so, why are people downloading and seeding it via torrent? What is the official stance on this from the NS2 team? Is it ok or is it not their official policy to allow those who did not pre-purchase the game to use the editor? If it is only private for those that have pre-purchased the game, then perhaps, it may be best to make a forum about using the Sparks Editor and any technial difficuilties, questions or issues that may arise? Just some thoughts.

everyone can download the editor on the download page, its even on the news frontpage

    http://www.naturalselection2.com/download

...but only those who purchased the special edition got the serial key to use it.. so whats your point?
peoples can get interrested in ns2 just by watching the awesome tutorial videos of this very easy to use editor aswell.

    http://www.naturalselection2.com/tutorials

and then they might even prepurchase the special edition just to get a head start doing their own project.. i dont see your point... i sense frustration of some kind

Ok. You bring valid points. I didn't know you needed a serial key to use the Sparks Editor. That is good to prevent those that are not allowed to access it, I suppose. My thought is that it is not a good idea to clutter this fourm as it may frustrate people who are interested in reading about NS2 and may not want to have to sort through all this talk about the Sparks Editor.

It's been said many times that there's going to be a seperate place for Spark discussion, but not for a while as the general forums were being kinda slow. Since most of us preordered and now recieved this awesome little tool, there's a lot of excited chat going around on how to use it, troubleshooting and what we'd like to see. If this was all in a seperate forum right now, General Discussion would be practically dead. We're all just excited talking about the new toy, it'll die down and things will get more organised.

did you read the download site or the front page both here and on naturalselection2.com?

It clearly stats pre-order key is needed.

But yeah the forums can be about cluttherd with Sparks, but i find it fun then just lurking around wating to talk about the new content or new..

So i think it fine as its for now, but in time a Spark forums is needed.

People would be more excited that there will by plenty of extra community content to experience, further increasing the value of their purchase.
