Sorry, I don't speak the language of a 5 year old, try again with coherent spelling and grammer and I might be able to help. Until then, be happy! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Obviously he is a fine British gentleman, just look at his use of 'thou'; a marvellous word richly used in lyrics. There is no possible way he could have known of this word had he not been the fine British gentleman i can now conclude him he is!

Unless he misspelt the 1337-speak 'tho', meaning 'though', that is.

Oh yes, here's a tip 123: If you did tell them to 'hold on' when they stand around base asking for equipment, you would be wise not to be surprised if they DO hold on and repeat their request.

Take your time then. At least try and keep it coherent and clean. Anyways, yes, It is annoying when people keep asking, but you have to realize, they cant do anything without you. It's extremely difficult to lock down a hive without a commander. Your right about your marines being in different places, They should stick together. If they're asking for weapons, tell them that you need to save up resources so that you can build, and tell them that they need to use their LMG's a little longer, than you'll properly equip them when you can.

I think I've appropriately addressed your statements. It is hard being commander. In order to be efficient, you need to be able to address many problems at once, stick to it, and it will come easier and easier to you.

Sure his spelling/grammar may not be the best, but it was not hard to understand what he was saying. And poor punctuation does not make anyones opinion less worthwhile, so stop being arseholes to him.

He is complaining about the plethora of marines that run off all over the place, and then expect the commander to be watching THEM all the time, and spend all the resources of the team around them. I agree 100%

I was just commanding today (with disastrous results, on eclipse no less)... when you set down a waypoint when you have 1 marine selected, does it give the waypoint to ALL marines?

Yeah, but it took me a minute to read something that should take 15 seconds. There is no reason not to use punctuation, etc, because this is <b>not a real-time environment</b>.

Nope, only the marines you've selected. Use the lasso tool, to get more then one marine.

marines, if you want to be nice to your commander, stand in a lighted area and DON'T MOVE when you ask for directions, etc.

How do you do this? Just click & drag out a section of the map and all marines in that section will be targeted?

Exactly. It is still tricky though (no misspelling here <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->) to get them all in the lasso at once.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to add more marines to an existing selection, e.g. by pressing "shift", while spreading the lasso over unmarked marines. The selection process and management of selections (e.g. assign marines to hotkeys, getting to see who you actually selected with a small spreadsheet, or seeing the status of your marines) needs improvement, I hope there will be some more of the standard RTS features supplied with future patches.
....oops, veering of the track a little bit. Let me get back to the original thread. As a matter of content, I agree with 123, as a matter of form, I agree with comprox and foggy.

marine teams dont often seem to be under control unless they all know each other and have previously determined some objectives...sometimes things work well when marines keep the same team for like 2-3 rounds and learn how eachother plays

    personally, i think the only thing a commander is good for is a snack <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Whether he has a point or not is not really the issue Comprox has. If someone types that bad, then I'm not sure if they deserve to have their opinion heard. Its not exactly difficult to hit that backspace key or to learn that a '.' is used to complete a sentence. I won't even start on his grammar either.

If he commands like he types then god help his team...

I typed this in less than 60 seconds, so speed is definately not an issue.

Whining over somebody else's spelling on a forum is just as bad as being the poor speller.

    STFU.

If you'd notice... there was more to it than just spelling. I don't think it's too much to ask for a post to be put together to a respectable degree.

Are we not getting a tad off topic here? Even if his spelling and grammar are that of a two year old, and he will not get any respect if he continues with this, he has a valid point.

All marines that **obscenity** and whine for a HMG and Armour and Welder at spawn while a hive base is being cut up, kindly RAM YOUR **obscenity** HEAD WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE! (I command regularly, and this sort of tactic against lamers works. If you get support from other team mates)
  • othellothell Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4183Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
    A point? Yes

Does it remind you of beating a dead horse? Yes

Also, you've brought up another point beyond grammar and spelling. Having numerous **obscenity** things in your posts does not help matters much.

I agree, there needs to be a way to set a universal waypoint. All too often I tell my marines "everyone get back to base", which I would hope isn't too difficult, and get barraged with "yeah waypoint me there man". Christ it gets annoying having to explain that I can't waypoint the whole team...
