no coment
why bother hunt down fades?
shotgun can easily wipe out fades if you get close enought (2 or 3 shots)

when the fade goes back to regenarate go at the corner and wait for it to come back
and when he appears empty the shotgun into his face and blow the **obscenity** out his brain

BUT!!! now this is the real pain in the butt

You've got to get the marines to run out of the nice warm base and shoot them (Which for some reason they don't I was on a server and our base was being pounded by fades and I was the only one to follow them. According to the alien team I was the only one fighting)
• REPTILEREPTILE Join Date: 2002-11-22 Member: 9642Members
true most people don't realise that if the fades keep firing into your base they will eventually destroy the turets guarding that place and move in

so if you see a fade don't be scared to die

Why waste 20 RUs on a shotty that will be semi-guaranteed to be lost shortly, when two marines can rush fades one at a time with an almost 100% success rate.

Yup, two marines with LMGs can own fades if you rush them. But dont let them get too close.

Some fades forget that they have a very high damaging swipe. They just acid rocket you from point-blank range... sad.

well.. someone else or maybe you yourself may very well pickup that shotgun after you've been killed... what you say doesn't have to be true for guns, it is however true for armor and jetpacks...

i forgot to say this

i hear a lot of people complaining

i can't kill fades
they are too strong
the fade is after me help help!!!

and when i ask them :how do you try to kill fades?

they tell me that they stay in the turets and fire at the fade when it comes out

i thing that the most people don't realise that the fade needs 6 with 7 sec (max)
to reganarate to its full health

there are ONLY 2 ways for killing fades

1) (the dificult way) get a couple of ather marines to follow you and hunt it down
( i say the dificult way because you will never make the ather marines to follow you

2) (the easy way) go at the corner that the fade is coming out to fire with a shotgun
and when he comes out to shoot empty the shotgun into his face you only need to fire 2 or 3 shots

don't forget that alliens need 44 res. to evolve into fades
shotgun needs around 20 res( don't remember)

The moment you see Fades coming and realise they just got their second hive up, rush the Fades with your live! Run after them and pump the lead into them.

Why?

Because they usually have a slow RP income so they can´t afford to go Fade again until minutes later. Try to kill the Fades with all means necessery and 2-3 LMG marines running after a Fade will almost guarantee his funeral because, he didn´t expect it and he probably has a long way to the next healing chamber.

Trust me on this, i play alien more then marines and i hate when thos marines come rushing after me, because they are SUPPOSED TO BE AFRAID OF ME AND RUN AWAY!!

i will have to agree with you XCan

there is only way for marines to win in this game
they must work together
TEAM WORK

even if you have ha and a hm you cant do anything if you go out by your selfe you will eventually lose the ha and die

its so simple

1)move in groups
2)attack all together(not even an onos can servive from 5 or 6 marines attacking at the same time)
(as long as you dont let it pull back and reganarate)
3)if you can't follow this 2 rulles then stop playing NS or play as an alien

I dunno about you guys, but as a marine I have figured out that if I have a LMG and LA and fades are trying to take a base/expansion that i should act exactly how I do as a skulk who is on a xenociding mission - KILL THE OPPOSITION. I hate it when I see a fade attacking the base and all the other marines are hiding behind the wall of turrets. I usally run out to the fade, unload a clip from my LMG and my pistol into it before dieing and then hope the other marines follow up...and they NEVER do. It almost makes me cry when I ask the fade how much HP i got him down to and he says "Man you got me down to 50 health...but don't worry, I healed up"

*sigh*

DONT LET THEM GET BACK TO THE HEAL CHAMBERS!!! chase them with your lmg and empty a clip into it! if it survives that, empty your pistol! it W I L L DIE!!!!!

Well, I rush fades a lot and I die a lot.......
When I rush with a LMG, 50% of the time the fade dies. When I rush with a HMG and waste 1 clip, the fade is still alive. Is that a bug or something?

It got lucky ie: you missed...a lot

Assuming (incorrectly) that armour counts as 1.3 HP , they have 200 + 163 = ~363 HP...that's not counting regen or carapace upgrades...

Shouldn't take you more than 20 HMG bullets or a full pistol clip plus 15 LMG bullets to kill one

Biggest complaints I've heard about "teh ovrpwered fades" is when they're combined with cloaking. As a Kharaa player (temporarily ) defecting I'll leak a few tactics to combat cloaked fades:

1) Walk around in groups of two or more. A Fade will have a harder time trying to kill the both of you.

2) Have a decent array of weapons variety within the group. LMG/HMG is a great all rounder, but don't be afraid to have a SG or GL user (if you have the res) available for short-range room clearing.

3) Send a primary group into the area you suspect a cloaked alien to be present in, then the remainder stealthily behind. I.e., two marines enter the room, then after a pause the third cautiously follows. The two act as bait, the idea being that when an over-eager Fade decloaks and attacks the two ahead of him the third marine empties their magazine into the Fade's back... how poetic...

4) Get HA. A Fade needs to slash (preferred cloak-kill weapon amongst many) several times to take down a HA marine. If you can't afford many suits, make the HA player(s) act as "bait" in step 3.

5) All stand perfectly still, constantly using radio commands and jumping up and down as you throw all your weapons aside.

That last one won't make you sitting ducks. Honest....

tbh, i wouldnt be too worried about cloaked fades. sensory almost always goes last, so any time they would normally have cloaking you are almost certainly screwed anyway. if sensory is there by second hive, though, well, so much the better...less acid rockets for me to deal with

you forgot one other way to deal with cloaked fades: the comm doing constant scanner sweeps in front of your squad. that way the alien will be uncloaked right in fron of your eyes, and will lose surprise on you. and it wont have adrenaline or celerity, or even better, perhaps no carapace

stop posting these stupid threads... they are all the same.

"Fades are powerful, but all you have to do is rush when they fall back"

Then the post degrades into posts about how they do it and no one else follows to finish the job. Wow, how many of the same posts are we going to have?

Thing is, all these posts and all the repetativeness has not yet gotten the message through to those foolish marines :/

I would agree that teamwork and being aggressive is the best way to take out a Fade. However, a good Adrenalized Fade can always counter that tactic by having his energy almost always full and backing away towards safety while rocketing the Marines as they charge. As a Fade, I try to keep my energy near the top so I always have 4 or 5 acid rockets "on tap" for a charging Marine or two. I also choose Carapace over Regeneration if there is Defensive Chamber cluster nearby. The only times I usually die like this is if several Marines (more than 2) surprise me and take me down. Otherwise, I finish off single Marines or simply run back to safety if there are too many.

2 marines to each fade, so how does that work out if there are say, 8 fades and 8 marines?
yeah then you'r short on marines.

but really, how many marines it takes depends on the level of upgrades of the marine.
one HA/MHG marine can easily take out 2 fades.

still, just sitting in the base hoping the fades will pass isn't going to help either way.
wait around the corner till the fade has launched is 3 to 4 rockets, then attack. most fades will be more scared of you then you are of them. make him wait that 30 seconds or so it takes him to respawn and re-evolve and make him spend those 40 odd rps.

I've rushed a fade with one or two other people before.. it doesn't exactly work
with LMG, we blast away at it, and run towards it.. usually it'll just keep blasting us and the splash damage from one of us will hurt the others also

only 4 or 5 shots from the fade and we are all dead

the maps usually arn't big enough (rooms) for us to spread out.. we'll always be near a wall

splash damage argh

usually the fade is still alive, sometimes we'll take it out though

most of the times when they're attacking our base they'll hide and take out the turrets first (nobody seems to attack.. why, i don't know) i've attempted to attakc, and i'd load a clip and a half or more into the fade, and then i'd die

it REALLY sucks when there are 3 or 4 of them
you just can't stop them. me and some other guys (3 other fades) and a lerk ran into an enemy hive.. we took it out

of course i died first :/.. then the lerk umbra'd and the turrets were useless.. and so the rest of the fades took out everything

I always seem to be the only guy that rushes the fades whenever I play, but its earned me alot of respect as a fade killer. The trick is to know roughly how many acid rockets they fire before they go and recover, you can do this by keeping a count, again its a matter of timing, then go out with guns blazing as you chase him down with your LMG, don't bother reloading whip out your pistol, empty it, and then whip out your blade.

I wish I could emphasize the importance of taking out the first fade that harasses your marine base. If theres only one fade, all marines in that base should rush it, the chances are that if 3 marines rush it with LMGs blazing then at least one will make it through and tear it to shreds. One fade can cause alot of damage if not stopped, when another fade arrives you can be sure that the end is near. So ALWAYS kill that first fade as soon as possible.

I've been in some games where the commander drops welders to repair turrets damaged by fade acid splash, they'll be better off dropping medpacks to the brave marines who charge the fade, getting rid of the source of damage is obviously better than a short term repair solution.
