    Hey Max,

    It appears a bunch of us are getting problems with the new update. It says it's downloaded the update, and prompts the user to install, and it then pops up a dialog window saying that the install is complete. Once clicking Ok, it then prompts the user again to download the update, meaning the update was unsuccessful. I've rebooted my PC, and still no luck. Will there be a fix for this?

    I read on facebook that someone had no issues, but the rest of us including myself who posted are having these problems.


    EDIT: Nevermind. Just now the update worked.

    Yeah, it didn't work for me at first, but I waited for about half an hour (did nothing special) and it worked fine. Someone must have forgot to check a checkbox or something, but it's Friday night, so we can't blame them! :p

    Im liking the new stuff but i still cant do shadows, it always turns yellow when i get to close and even far away when i can see the light, it casts no shadow, and news when this is going to be fixed? also a lot of the models turned yellow also because of this. I have a nvidea 6800 gt.

    One thing: Why doesn't your crash feedback dialog show up for me when Spark crashes? I have made it crash several times without that happening. :(

    - I have more trouble with selecting new face, (actualy i can't make multiple selection of face)

    Wow mostly fixed. I dont think that i will crash this.

    Thanx for the texture lower size bug fix. It is now faster. No less than 10-5 i think.

    It seems good. Im gonna report again if i get an error.

    I still really want a "hammer-esque alt+right click with a face selected" sort of deal for the texture application tool. At least something that makes copying texture settings from face to face easier would be very cool. I dont mind the props, but I do miss the olden days of only "brushwork" :P

    Still have this problem:

    The filesystem seems to be whacko. Running windows 7 on a 64-bit comp.

    The effect is that I don't get to see thumbnails in the props browser but I can add them to the map.
    Also, the autosave doesn't work since it cant find the proper place to do it.

    Those files are in the /naturalselection2/core/ install area. It doesn't seem to know the path to that location. Try running the exe right from the install folder. Did you maybe copy the editor.exe instead of make shortcut?

    Hmm, good point. I don't know where the program runs. I ran it from the taskbar in win 7 and I'm not sure how that works yet. Edited the path for autosaves. It defaults to a "user/blabla/ns2..." which seems to be the problem. Autosave works now.

    But running from within the folder haven't solved it. Still get

    Will look into windows paths.... maybe windows messes with the paths during install.


    EDIT:

    WORKS NOW! SOMETIMES IT'S REALLY EASY!

    Don't know why I haven't tried it before. ----->RUN IT AS ADMIN!!!
    This probably cut's out the "user/" part in windows attempt to direct paths or something like that.
    However this one is still not working

    but I can see the props now so I'll let it slide.

    Now to get some mapping done :D

    Windows 7 here, and not running as admin and it works fine. You should never need to run an app as admin unless it does admin'ish stuff.

    Everything was working fine before the update, but now all the textures are black. No lights, nada.

    Specs are:
    i7 920 @ 3.8GHz
    Radeon HD 5870
    Windows 7
    All w/ updated drivers

    This also happens on my older system (P4, Radeon X800, WindowsXP), but as I said it worked fine before the update on my new system. Somebody please help! Now it doesn't work on any of my comps :(

    I'm sorry for you, but I'm glad this happened to be honest.
    After all there are ppl out there that have this problem since the release of the editor and this might help to solve that issue finally.

    Regarding Vista / Win 7:

    I think I need to look into my user rights. Win 7 states that NS2/Spark will make changes to my PC (Woooo I'm so scared....thank you, MS, for letting me know) which means it want's read/write access to my HD. Stupid. Anyway, I run Steam in admin as well so no biggie for me. This prob aside I really like "7". Runs fantastic!

    I agree, I think they should make this bug a priority, because you can't even use the editor. It's not just an annoyance like some other bugs. I just hope they get around to fixing it, because now I have two PC's that won't run the editor. It seems like it's only happening on certain Radeon cards.

    Ugh, hate ATI. Cards are fine, drivers suck. Running in admin mode (at least during install) seems to work fine here, haven't had many problems aside from crashes. Though I haven't had much time to mess with it since before last week's update.

    runs fine on win 7 64bit w/ a HD4850 ... no admin mode required (except for installing patches obviously)

    I wonder what I'm supposed to do with the Builder tool ... no idea :D and lack of documentation..

    Props can be mirrored with negative scale values, but for geometry we are out of luck.

    It is really great to get a list of updates before downloading. But could it be possible to put the size of the download i'm about to start somewhere? Since i have limited traffic i have to look out for it (of course - those 10 mb are not that much - but the information would be good anyways)

    I think along these lines that having a way to see the list of "Patch Notes" in the "Help"-menu would be neat as well. Since the moment you shut the auto-updater down, you have to visit the website to see what has been patched. And the website so far doesn't even have a dedicated page for the list of updates. A text-file to read from the editor directory that is updated each patch would be great.
