Having a hard time caring about this one, to be honest.
It won't make a difference and anyone who uses it as an excuse will probably be a moron.
if someone is that upset of some so-called "advantage" for having black armor, theyre clearly just insecure about their (i assume) lower skill level. granted, im also assuming ns2 will have a similar, if not so steep, learning curve, but any minor strategic advantage to having black armor can easily be compensated by working together with your teammates or simply getting better with close combat fighting as an alien. even if there is no alien flashlight in ns2, if the skill curve is similar to ns, you can still get past the fact that a marine in black armor will be slightly harder to see in dark areas
one last thought, should they purposefully leave the alien flashlight out as a way to reward people who pre-ordered the special edition by making them slightly more sneaky?

To re-iterate the original point, black armour would likely not be included at all if it gave any form of in-game advantage looking at current attention UWE gives to gameplay. Moreover, people who care about such banal things will have all the ability to negate such things with maybe a couple of Lua lines.
So far it sounds to me that the only issue at hand is, some people were too cheap to get the 40$ version (or get one at all) and are now trying their best to rationalize it.

Perhaps providing concrete examples of changes no one ever thought would affect gameplay (but did) was not logical enough for you? In which case it would explain your poor grasp of it. Otherwise, yes, you and I seem to be the only people caring about such stupid crap. Me only caring because you were being a ###### about it, I don't really care if something or other gives negligible advantage to whatever as long as the core gameplay is balanced myself.
Preorder game items have been going on forever in many games/companys, some give advantage some don't we payed them 20$+ more for them to get this game gonig with anything, you give more you get more everyone and i mean EVERYONE has the samn opportunity to pay for the SE preorder of this game if you want to be a cheap ass and only give 20$ its your own doing noone is forcing you to buy it but to come and tell them to take it out because it may give a little if none advantage over other players pisses me off if you have to come complain about that because you can't pay 20$ more then maybe you need to cancel your internet service you clearly need the money for more importent things other then entertainment.
For those whom are saying this will be a bad thing for Cal NS, i'm vary sorry to tell you CAL and CPL have been bought out by United Arab Emirates like 4 months ago for now there dead, I play Cal-Invite Counter Strike.
