If I Pre-Order NS2

Hi guys

Just wondering, if I pre-order NS2 today, what do I get... as in can I start playing yet? I was trying to see where its says whether the alpha or beta is out yet and I couldn't see it, hence my question. I thought there might be a 'current status of the game' page but couldn't find anything besides the blog.

If the alpha is not out yet any ideas how far away something is that is playable?

Cheers
Anthony

Alpha is not out yet. No idea when. Possibly "soon".
In the meantime what you can do is play with Spark, the editor.

This is perfect. Its exactly my point that there isnt enough information on the main page for potential new players and may stop them buying the product. Im guessing if you found the Fall 2009 trailer youd really be confused.

That shows you pretty much what you get if you order either version. At the moment there is no playable build out and all you can use is the level editor to play around with and create maps. Apparently the Alpha version which you will need to buy the Special edition for will be out "soon" but whenever that is is anyones guess.

    Ok thanks...

I agree it would be good to see some a page that shows the overall current status. Maybe it has a list of steps were the already completed steps a crossed out and you can see which ones are left...

Is it easy to get and make a half decent map or is it a fair learning curve and takes a fair about of dedication?

    Cheers

Check out the "Post your screenshots" thread stickied in this forum, you'll see what people have been doing so far, many of them mapping for the first time!
