<div class="IPBDescription">if not, will be not be able to play on these servers?</div>Hey, im just wondering, i know you say you cant be sure whether we can play through steam or not if we pre purchase; You see, i REALLY want to pre purchase the pre alpha and black armor pack version (LIKE NOW!) but what i would like to know is 'if' we cant play through steam with this pre order (valve are funny about it perhaps) then will we be cut off from the main online playing community on steam? Can you tell us for certain that you will have some sort of work around for this should it be the case (example, refund pre purchase upon purchase of a steam version, or something)?

PLEASE DEVS REPOND! This is an important question!!
Thanks

The game WILL use Steam and their servers if that's what you're asking. Whether or not your pre-order itself will be transferred over is unconfirmed, but there's no reason it won't be.

Thats the thing im asking. I mean, whats the point on paying for the pre-order, only to find out that you have to purchase the game AGAIN through steam just to be able to play online (especially with it being primarily/only an online game)?

Im not gonna make any purchase until this is confirmed for sure, it needs clearing up.

C'mon guys, do you want my money or what? :s

You won't have to re-purchase just to play, the player-base won't be split between steam/non-steam servers (NS2 uses Steamworks so it's steam-only). If you want it on Steam specifically, then you might want to wait for official confirmation.

Just want to clarify something here. "Steam" means a bunch of different things.

    1. Steam can be used to purchase, download and update games. NS2 is not 100% sure this will happen with the pre-orders, but are hopeful it will happen.

    2. Steam (actually, steamworks) can be used by any game regardless of purchase method to handle things like server browsing, friends, anti-cheat, etc. These features require steam to run but don't require you to buy the game off steam. NS2 is going to use steamworks so regardless of purchase method you can all play together.
