hehe, i realise it's actually the crookers (famous remix) of day'n'night.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDRwearWT38&feature=related" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDRwearWT38...feature=related</a>

At 45 seconds, the beacon noise is all through the chorus.

I also realise the noises in NS are from a basic noise pack. But still!!!! :P

My guess is, that the ns beacon sound is from a sound library, that can be bought by anyone.

Yea but who would use that sound even if you don't know about NS..

The sound isn't FROM NS, it was just used in NS.

    I KNOW ! lol

but it doesn't fit in a musical composition.. although you can't really call that music.

The Bacon (old NS joke) was the greatest sound in the world. It meant you had a chance to come back and potentially prevent a serious ass whooping :P

NS has a huge amount of sound from very common libraries. Most of the alien hisses/noises, the doors opening, the buttons beeping, etc. all show up in tons of movies.

I like how people have been commenting as if this sentence didn't exist in the op.

I'm trying to point out that not only are they from a basic noise pack, people use them all the time without referencing NS.

hehe the beacon noise to me has a colt following, directly from NS! Should be included in NS2 :P

I don't know why... but while listening to this song, the only thing I could picture myself is Veil's Marine Start overrun by Onoses/Oni/whatever and Fades banging on the CC, and then some marines spawning in mid-air and staring to "dance" by looking left and right... Hmmm....

Actually males typically have a heal-toe gait, while females tend to use the balls of their feet/shuffle. I'd venture that the resulting balance shift is subtly audible over materials like sand and woodchips especially to gamers who spend much of their time differentiating sounds metres away!

Doubt it, but since NS1 wasn't commercial, if you are in possession of those royalty-free sound you can use them as you want.

... if you are miraculously in possession of them.. :D

I remember rather vividly, when the first KotOR game came out, there was a spot in the lower level of Taris with a flickering light, that had the same sound files as the TSA construction noise from NS. The first time I went down that corridor, I genuinely thought "Crap, the 'rines are building a siege!"

Then I remembered I was playing Star Wars.

like that creature in starcraft you can pester until it chuckles

sadly enough I think I've heard this remix before this thread, the part after the beacons first break is very familiar
