Hey I don't know if this has been posted so I apologize if it has been already but today NS2 was named Indie Game of the Year on Moddb with Overgrowth in second place. Congrats UW! If you haven't seen it check it out, theres a lot of in game footage in the video:

Very very cool, it's all in game, surprised it wasn't mentioned on the site yet.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!! So cool even with the jerky framerate and animations.
edit: just wait to see how many e's I'm gonna put when the game is actually released

I know right? Look at all that gameplay footage! :)

Hope this will run good on my computer even if it's Alpha.. or I'm buying a second 4890 damn it !!
EDIT: I'm just having the video looping on my tV !! haha jk
GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE.
Shame it's all blocky and choppy though. Will see the HD of it?
Looking ###### sick!
still needs some polish though obviously.... :D
Seriousy though, awesome work guys, great to see some gameplay footage!
Its looking great!
Grats to UWE :)
looks good but at some point it has like 10 fps?
If you mean the thing in the room with the gorge, that's the aliens' resource harvester.
I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that's the game running on top of their realtime script editing environment and other such tools, not optimized for actual play. Just guessing based on how they've touted their ability to iterate quickly with realtime in-engine techniques.
Not to say that it isn't awesome -- it is (!!!!) -- I just think it's easy to tell that this was some kind of nonoptimized footage.
Loved the Gorge, so cute. And the snappy opening of the armoury.
The scary ceiling got what it deserved (looked like a laser mouse spaz to me, buy a new mouse!).
yup, it's on a resource nozzle. Also, the bulb resembles a gorge-tummy

Yeah just wondering. I'm very aware of the very pre-alpha stuff which we see here so of course it needs some optimization ;) - doesn't make this video bad
"you deserved it folks!"
Like other ppl before me I'm gonna look through the gameplay footage in that video for another 5 to 10 times :)
Not only that, but the unfolding animation for the rifle was creative and very well done. I'm not sure if I like the sounds for the shots/bullets hitting the floor, though; they sound REALLY light, like the rifle isn't actually hitting very hard. It's hard to tell though, really, until we play it for ourselves. I'm also not liking the marine sprint too much, but we'll have to see how that plays out as well.
Regardless, this will sure shut those "THE FIRST ALPHA RELEASE WILL PROBABLY JUST BE WALKING AROUND MAPS" people up.
Why hasn't this been tweet'd/front page'd? Hopefully UWE's just finishing up the Alpha to release today. Hopefully. You have no idea how hard I'm hoping.
EDIT: The comm... station? (It's not really a chair anymore.) animation looks sweet, as does the turret's, and the armory's. I can't wait to play this thing.
I'm guessing that they're preparing some sort of actually substantial news post on the subject, and when they have it ready we'll see it. This is update Friday, after all. We might even get more information/media in celebration! An alpha? ... that would be cool.
wait till tomorrow for the post :p
