<div class="IPBDescription">based on the news in 2007</div><!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Finally, we wanted the headgear to support avatar customization options. In terms of the design, that meant that we needed to be able to swap out the helmet for some other type of head gear, while still making the marine's equipment plausible. Namely, an integral component, like the tactical computer and heads-up display, will need to be present regardless of what headgear is chosen, so the role of the helmet itself needed to be downplayed.
We're not committed to character customization yet since we're not sure if we'll have the art resources to do full customization of your avatar's appearance. But at the most basic level, we'd like to at least provide gender selection, which is why we decided to work with a female model in the concept stage. Hopefully we'll be able to go beyond that for Natural Selection 2 or a future add-on, so we wanted our new design to allow for that....
...But that's just the fiction of the universe; in-game what this design means is that we can give players the option to customize their appearance with a full helmet, a mohawk, a military hat, a bandanna, or whatever else we want. The holographic element keeps an evolutionary connection with the original visor while giving us a step forward in the marine's technology. And the face is uncovered, so we're happy with this design. In the modeling stage we're planning on emphasizing the shape of the armor plates to give the helmet a more unique silhouette, but for now we're done concepting.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So I looked back again to 2007, because I love to see how this game evolved and came to the question if there are any new configurations about that, yet.
In the quote you Guys said that you don't know if it will make it into the final game and we didn't saw any new marine helmet designs.
Though I'm a big fan of customizable avatars i wonder how you decided.
Another thought I came up with is, like you said, making it in the Addon/DLC/Update like the Team Fortress 2 Hat style.
You for sure have made thousands of other things at the meantime but this just woke my interest.
Thanks.

However, I think anything where the user can choose a colour from a colour wheel is horrific. And rewards or DLC opens up a whole can of epeen related horrible-ness that NS2 could really do without - including this kind of stuff is what separates making a game 'casuals' can enjoy and making a game <b>for</b> the 'casuals'.
I'll miss the robocop helmet but change is good.
A big-little square on the chest, helmet or something, thats enough customization.

In addition, I think having the players name on their back armor plate would be a nice, along with maybe a small custom uploadable decal (great for clans).
I agree... personally... i want to strip off all that crap (especially the freekin LEDs all over the armor!)... If it means my armor readout would be 0000 all the time then so be it!
I think there should be limited model customization so basically all marines look the same.
And yes, players name on the beck or front and some small decal on the shoulder for clans !!
thats anti-ninja equipment for you.
Maybe the ability to move around the pieces of "bone plates", or change the shape of the teeth, color of eyes, ect.
Of course if the bone plates provide added protection, moving them around could have a much more strategic value.
I would like to see the ability to somehow customize our armor so that everyone can see it.
I am not a big Halo fan, however I do love the alternative to pick a 3 letter/# combination callsign. Allow players to have that on their armor and maybe a small logo.
Force the players to pick a few numbers 0-9 and a letter A-Z, no funky crap in their options to have that take effect. Show the players callsign in the scoreboard also
