Alien structures growing when placed

Will alien structures grow as they are built? For example, if a resource tower is placed, it could initially be small (like the size of a skulk egg). As it is built, it would get larger. The easiest way would be to just use the same model but scale it. For future updates (post 1.0), the egg could become more complex or change colors as it is built.

I would like to see gorges spit up globs of raw bacterium and see that grow into a structure.

I get the impression that this would look really awkward if done with the "scaling" method you described. However, I do like Hybridclaw's idea. GO GORGIES GO GO GO!

I notice in the concept art that the gorge is spitting out an egg. That would imply (to me) a structure that grows. I'd suggest that the egg itself grow until it bursts open to reveal a near-complete tower. That way, the animations can be simplified.

You are incorrect... the gorge creature ###### out its mouth when its in danger... This is an evolutionary feature which permits it to run away faster at the cost of all its personal resources.

Is this true? It can sacrifice all its resources to run faster? How long does it take to hack that up?

All I can tell you is that if it takes me 10 resource points to evolve into a gorge, I won't drop more than 5 resource points to run faster. In fact, I'm inclined to just spit at them and heal spray instead.

Edit: Technically, if it's coughing up a cocoon/egg to grow into a tower, it technically is coughing up a bag of resources

He just made it up for fun. No indication of such a feature being in has been given.

I was hoping the gorge would be like a space sea cucumber.

It would eject its intestines all over a marine, then make a quick escape.

    :)

    Edit:
Come to think of it, I i think this is a better way for the gorge to save itself than the "belly slide" and the "gorge covering its face" ideas
