Fades in their current form at squishy and relatively easy to kill compared to their cost...it takes both a smart and good fade to make himself useful beyond his cost
European fades are way better than American fades
headshots don't have their place in NS...otherwise I'd want onos eye-stabbing dmg
I wouldn't say Fades are overpowered. Its just that the only people who play Fade are the super hardcore. Once they start getting 107-8 they need to get a life and go outside for a change =D (lawl better things to do then homing ur "skillz" at fade).
But things will have changed for sure from the first Natural selection. Now the marines can actually RUN !! (so they aren't slow ass fodder). For all these years they had the ability to fly(jetpack) and use motion detection to sense through the walls.... but none of them could run lawl

(which is okay, because it's mutual)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> I don't know where that came from.
But it's probably true.
Also Fades are made of Bacterium and are a hive-mind of every cell in their body. It's true, Flayra told me in an email.
I think Fade 'problems' stem a lot from the fact that the alien side has like zero variety in class choices. Skulks are harriers, Gorges and Lerks played support roles, Onos were just drive-by devour-machines, the only class with actual staying-power was the Fade. NS2 really needs another alien class to break up the Fade. Instead you've got a power curve thats:
- Crappy unit. - Crappy unit. - Crappy unit. - Crappy builder. - Crappy unit. - Crappy unit. - Crappy unit. - Crappy unit. - Crappy support. - Crappy unit. - Crappy unit. - Hive 2. - Okay unit. - Crappy builder. - Okay unit. - Okay unit. - Okay support. - Okay unit. - Awesome durable soldier. - Okay unit. - Okay unit. - Okay unit. - Awesome durable soldier. - Awesome durable soldier. - Okay unit. - Crappy 'game ender' unit. - Okay support. - Awesome durable soldier.
etc.
That may have made no sense to anyone who isn't me, but look at the choices.
Onos are too expensive (and are well... not-good units anyway). They're pretty much 'out' until very late game because they're worthelss without upgrades and the like too. Skulks lose effectiveness as the match goes on, and can't keep up with marine upgrades, especially later-on. Gorges are a builder unit, and pretty much out of the equation. Lerks are surprisingly rare and are, well, just a support unit.
So when it comes to actually... KILLING MARINES, you have the skulk (again, loses effectiveness as the match goes on, is still just a quick harrier unit and is intended to be somewhat disposable)... or the Fade. Since they have only ONE soldier-type class, it has to fill a lot of gaps, and therefore looks overpowered. It has to be strong enough to survive *and* kill upgraded marines, it has to have staying power to last the entire game as it'll have to deal with HMGs and such, it needs to be quick to negate marine upgrades like Phase Gates... at least that's how I see things. The typical time Fades show up (or at least are 'meant' to) coincides with a level of marine power as well - the upgrades they have, how much land they should control, etc. Skulks are to get the team TO that point, after that the Fades roll in.
So when you have Fades fighting marines who aren't actually at that point yet, things will get hairy.
Aliens need a second soldier class to take some of the pressure off the Fade to be the jack of all trades.
I'd have to say Temphage, you pretty much got it dead on for aliens. Unupgraded/no weapon marines against fades are pretty much the skulks against upgraded marines, where they can kill but it's pretty hard unless they suck. However, the tech/upgrades scale a lot differently because chambers and new abilities vs pure damage/armor increase is debatable. I think a leap skulk celerity/focus skulk is on par with an upgraded marine with LMG/pistol no HA/JP though, and that's how the side players balance out (marines with equipment and fades/lerks are the main players in the game).

Yeah, that was impressive. NS needs more soldier aliens.
