<div class="IPBDescription">A gun i made today.</div>So, i am one of the people who don't like the hand gun as much as every one else.
<img src="http://www.pirathavnen.dk/img/blandet/ns2%20gun1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
(this is the small concept art i have used)
I gave it a try in 3ds max, and here is what i got..
<img src="http://www.pirathavnen.dk/img/blandet/Agun.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
(yes i did rip them off with this.. ;) )
For some reason if fell that this one is more... NS2'ich..
But it might just be me?
I got a few more renders to show off the model.

<img src="http://www.pirathavnen.dk/img/blandet/ns2%20gun2.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
<img src="http://www.pirathavnen.dk/img/blandet/ns2%20gun3.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
I started today, and have used 5 hours so far..
It's still a WiP, so lack of details and other stuff is normal..
Let me know what you think? C&C is accepted.. :)

My opinion, rushed. On my way out the door.

Not really, you just need to get the basic's..
What all the buttons do, and such..
Then you should be good to go..
You might need to do a few tut's though..
Haha... You do know that the entire top of normal pistols go back like that* when they shoot? Only with video game peripherals can you stick your eye right up to the back of the gun.

The real question for me is why they put a tactical rail on a pistol. It's useless and makes the gun <i>much</i> bigger than necessary.
This. Might be a good model you've done there but you should have chosen a better design to work on.
Anyway, yes, I don't like the mauser approach, but that's because I believe that weapons in such a battlezone would be mounted to the back of your armored glove or at least a multitool with different roles (pistol with monomolecule bayonet vibrating at supersonic speed, anyone?).
Those go on the bottom or the side. The top is the part you use to aim. Scopes can go on top, but you don't put those on carry pistols.
That and pistols are supposed to be compact, since they're expected to spend most of the fight in a holster. You don't want your sidearm getting in the way because it has a bunch of tumorlike "features" sprouting off it.
personally i think it looks better but needs alot of adjustment

reflex red dots work well on pistols
allso how long have you been working with 3ds max?
and did you go into some kind of university for that? ive allways wanted to learn it.

I have used it for like half a year.. but not all the time..
Breaks and stuff has come in between..
Yes, i am on a 3D college, so some of the things we learn is pretty focused on 3D..
my only complaint with the current ns2 pistol is that it seems very large to me. yours is even bigger and therefore far suckier.
edit: as for that shotgun... wow. elementary school called.
the ammo counter is easy to add, but it's still a WiP...
So stuff will be added...
That the Luger-style Rube-Goldberg contraption of a pistol does not fit NS tech. It's a close attempt, but when something doesn't quite fit it's obvious.
I'd like to see a re-poll (I don't recall any in the first place) <b>including</b> the new Luger-style. I very much doubt it will be chosen.

6 by far is my main choice (4 a distance second), and I love the body, but I never would have agreed with the operational mechanism they forced on it. Heck, what would have been cool is for the "slide" to operate on an angle as its hinted at in #6, blowing back upwards at a 45-degree angle.
I can't help the feeling that the designers have maybe seen guns on TV and in the movies, but never actually held or used one.

What was the reason for the double triggers?

Obviously the second trigger should never be used, it will activate a doomsday device cannon thingamabob that will singe off your eyebrows

At first I thought that perhaps what you were seeing was a lower rail attachment but then I went back and looked at the concept sketches. You're completely right. Those are definitely little hand-guards and they are definitely unnecessary. It's like whoever thought of that was trying to scale down a combat shotgun or something, having taken the slang term "hand-cannon" far too literally.
I have no problem with UW making the handgun chunky. It's kind of got a Warhammer 40K vibe and I'm down with that. That being said, I feel the Luger is just as interesting as the next gun buff, but it's just too gimmicky looking in this context. It's like the bite-cam thing. UW does some illogical junk just to be different. I find it a little unprofessional now that they're no longer the fledgling designers and developers they used to be, but hey, it's their game not mine.
The 'real' answer: The gun is [on top of being a non-functional movie prop] two guns in one - it's got a .44 revolver with a .222 Steyr rifle receiver up top.
The idea behind the two triggers is obvious.
And people complaining about things going back and "poking their eye"..better never shoot one of these then:
<img src="http://www.ruger22.com/art/photos/News-11-11-2004G.jpeg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Also..small lengths of rail on top of a pistol could be used for a small red dot/holographic/other such aiming device. A couple manufacturers make some specifically for pistols.
EDIT: Like this one:
<img src="http://images2.opticsplanet.com/640-640/opplanet-leupold-deltapoint-35.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
EDITx2: Though either way..I'm glad to finally have a friggin pistol instead of it being replaced (along with the knife) by the Taser. Tasers and cool and all..and I don't mind one as a melee weapon..but can't replace a pistol with them. Heck..even cops carry both.
