AFAIK: There's 5 employees at their office and a nebulous quantity of contract workers around the globe (for levels, animating/rigging, sound, etc). Maybe 12 total?
Nobody really knows because most theories hypothesize that Flayra is an amalgamation of between 4 and 6 coders from the future. There is intense disagreement about the actual number. Plus, Max is an android so we don't know if he counts as human or robot or half a human or what.

I heard dux was even lacking use of both arms, rendering him incapable of wielding a mouse. Sadly, this led to him sourcing his maps from the local homeless children who borrowed his computer once a week in exchange for facebook and shelter
Then off course there is Cory who squeals like a pig every time someone posts his name on the forums. It must be frightening sitting in your office with someone going SQUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE every once in a while. Especially when it's dark.
EDIT: sorry UWE folks but i had to mention "his" name for people to understand the joke, i didn't mean to scare you :(

The core team, and people sharing office space, are:
Charlie- Game designer, Game director, Programmer, CEO <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(1)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> Max- Graphics Programmer, Technical Director, Tools and Engine programming, to name just a few of his many and varied tasks <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(2)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> Cory- Art Director, concept artist <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(3)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> Matt- Lead Environment Artist, creates textures and models, and serves the role of "that big goofy guy that we get to make fun of". He is NOT a student. <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(4)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
Additionally, we have some fulltime offsite contract team members. These are comprised of 2 riggers/animators <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(6)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>, recently 2 environment artists <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(8)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>, and 1 mapper <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(9)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>. They are considered Unknown Worlds Developers and are part of the team.
Then we have 2 outsource guys we are dealing with <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(11)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>, who are creating all the player models, weapons, and structures. They are independent outsourcers, not part of the team, working on a variety of other projects as well as ours.
We have another animator who is doing some stuff in his spare time for free <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(12)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>, just working on the Skulk and Onos animations. And another programmer who is helping out in his spare time for free <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(13)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>, doing the flash UI stuff to be integrated with the game.
We recently just added a part time producer to the team. <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(14)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
We also have a guy who we are contracting to make the music for the game <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(15)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> (and who made the music for the teaser and alien reveal vids) and another guy who is going to do the sound. <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(16)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
And, what may have been confusing, is that we've tried working with several various students, off and on, to try and get help with rigging and environment art. None of them have ever worked out or produced anything that we could use, so we've still been on the lookout for a decent rigger. Finding a student who can produce the quality of work that we need has been virtually impossible...believe me, we've tried to find cheap/free help. However, to get quality and experience, you need to pay $ [...] Anyway, hope this clears some stuff up.

+ the new guy (see last podcast) <b><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->(17)<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b>
He asked how many people are working full time, though. That cuts off the outsource guys, the animator, the programmer doing the UI, the producer, probably the music guy, and probably the sound guy. And Max (android, not fully human).
