I'd like some finer control of graphics settings. Those system specs listed on the NS2 site are absolute bs. 1.2GHz cpu and 256MB of ram? Maybe for the video card specs. I have 2GB of ram, Q6600 (2.4GHz) and a 7600GT (256MB). I can get 70 - 95fps in TF2 pretty consistently, 200 - 300 fps in source mods, and 5-10 fps in NS2 engine test (somtimes I spike to 15, and once today I saw 17)...
Yet to be optimised etc but I'd struggle to beleive the min sys req of about a year ago still holds true.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I have a fairly beastly computer and I was even getting mid to high 20's for FPS in certain spots. I did have it on high but I've been able to run just about every modern game decently. Hopefully we'll see more optimization as time goes on.

Same here, lowest was even 17 fps at one spot in the second map with the long always and everything while shooting a dummy. Highest point was about 50fps but end up moving around near 40.
The engine is not optimized yet, so we should not be worried. Looking at a 20k Tris scene with 30 fps will prove that, compared to, for example, Crysis where you'll have a scene of a million Tris running at 40 fps with the same hardware.
What they really do need is a LOD shadows, similar to the one in battlefield bad company 2 which is really good in my opinion.

Anyone found in the files where the bind for opening console is ? I'm pretty sure it's not in the LUA, but I want to change it because it doesn't work on my (French) keyboard T_T

U just need to press the top left key (which is "²" in my case) it should work...
Console won't come up either for my Gaming rig PC. I'm using an old off the wall brand keyboard, PS2, that I love to play with. It still doesn't work when I hook up a USB keyboard though.
I tried editing the options.xml to bind to "`" instead of "Grave", as is the default, but still no dice. Plus the Options.xml will reset itself when there are abnormal values present, like changing the console bind or odd resolutions, and you don't change it's properties to read only. I've changed the console command to other keys and still nada.

The input.txt mechanism was from an earlier version of the engine test and doesn't work anymore.
Instead go to
%APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2\
and edit the file options.xml
You'll find a line <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--> <ToggleConsole>Grave</ToggleConsole><!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
You can change this to something more useful, e.g. <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--> <ToggleConsole>F12</ToggleConsole><!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

Ouch, FPS dips into the low 20s quite often.
