Where is the .fgd at? In the Map FAQ, the link to the DOWNLOAD page, I didn't find the .fgd there.

Also, their is a ns.wad in the MAP FAQ, is this the same .wad that is in the game itself, or do I need to -wadinclude these because they are different?

Lastly, there are many different .wads in the NS folder such as ns_bast, ns_eclipse, ns_hera, ns_nothing, ns_tanith, and just ns.wad

Which wads can all us mappers use to make our own NS maps? Any of them or just ns.wad??

the fgd comes with ns, its in there somewhere, just look for it. also, as far as i know, any of the textures released with NS are fair game for use in other maps, if the mappers didnt want others to use them they should wadinclude them (though note, none of the specific textures for a map, ie bast logo, hera hologram etc, should really be used in another map unless for a very good reason or permission from the mapper or something)

ns_eclipse.wad and ns_hera.wad textures WERE included into the bsp, but the .wad files were also included in the release by mistake. Merk and I spent a couple days reducing redundant and unnecessary textures from ns.wad and had hoped to cut a couple more megs from the installer by removing our own respective .wad files from the release. Not a huge issue, but not technically supposed to be there.

I think that is at least the third time i've heard you say that kungfusquirrel, it must be somewhat a big deal to you.

Wait, so should mappers NOT use textures contained with the ns_eclipse.wad and ns_hera.wad files? I downloaded the quark addon files that linked to all the ns textures, and apparently I have used a good number of textures form both wad files... you mind KungFuSquirrel?

    Ex.

When I say anything about the Eclipse-specific textures, I only mean the Eclipse Command screen and Eclipse Station logo (modified TSA logo). I'd hoped to have them be included in the bsp to prevent seeing them on random walls in other maps set elsewhere, but there's nothing to be done about that now. I may be slightly annoyed if you use those 3 (2 for the screen), but it's not like I'd hold anything against you. Any other ns_eclipse.wad textures just as well may have been moved to ns.wad, but weren't for whatever reason.

LOL, ok, well, how about I put a couple textures giving you and who'mever else made the textures credit. One place that I am thinking about doing this is in the ready room.

So, are you saying that there is no need to use ns_bast, ns_eclipse, ns_hera, ns_nothing, ns_tanith wads because the ones that any mapper can use are already in the default NS.WAD that Natural Selection was released with?

Also, what is the difference between the NS.WAD in the Mapping FAQ and in the one that came with in the install? It says is has the hera door..etc.

Someone should really update that FAQ. That's like the fifth person I've seen thats been misled by it. I mean... people should be ENCOURAGED to read the FAQs!!!
