whats the problem? i can help you, if you want..but if just the unknown words ###### you up, use dict.leo.org. but if you have some difficulties with level design itself, you should get familiar with these things first

joa..an wörtern sollte es also nich liegen, aber wenns nen generelles problem mit leveldesign und den dort verwendeten begriffen is, solltest du dir die irgendwo anders erstmal aneignen

There'll probably be a german translation for the game at some point, given the way it's coded you could probably do it yourself, or someone else could do it and release it.

Seems like you have a good grasp of English to me. While English is a hard language to learn, German is pretty close. Whose idea was it to have an almost random plural form of every noun? Just add "s"....

Well, why not break down language barriers and open ns2 to new customers, who don't speak english. Can't be that difficult to translate the game into german and maybe french. As for myself, I would help with the german translation.

So, yes. I know there will be many german players who would play NS 2.
To translate the game into german or into many other languages would be good. not only for the players, cause not everybody can speak english.

thousands of people in other countrys will be able to play NS 2 in their language.

English is a very nice language, it will be difficult to find the proper german words for a translation - just think about movies and the jokes in it!

Anyway i offer my help to translate english or german into binary.

Maybe Googlebot or any other bot is interessted in playin' NS :D

I think the idea of a translated version (in any language, not just german) is good, but: I want to have the option to play in any language (like in Valve-games) that is available. Sometimes the translation is horrible, text strings are too lang and don't fit the available space in the UI etc. - and maybe I have a german Windows, bought the original (english) version of NS2, but my first language is egyptian. Manual language selection is a must, if there will be localized versions.

Also: I'd also like to help out with a german translation of the game. I don't know if the devs already load all strings from an external resource file (INI, CSV or XML..), let's hope they're not hardcoded into the LUA files.

I believe it was said that upon release there would only be English. More languages would be supported afterwords.

There was a thread a while ago asking for Korean localization, Max responded that localization will be made possible, but I'm sure the onus will be on the community needing the localization. I don't expect UWE to translate their game for you.

Also, English is one of the easiest languages in the world to learn and less complex than German (word order is more standard, less inflections, no gender forms). If you're on the internet and playing games, it's reasonable to expect that you have a working knowledge of English (which you do). Simply translating text isn't going to help much since many game/application interfaces rely heavily on paradigms, idioms, and idiosyncrasies native to the language.

Yes, thats what i thought. The players all over the world should have the option to chose between the languages. That would be nice.

im not a english pro :D i understand most of the english but not all. So there will be a lot of people which cant understand something in-game, like commands from the commander or upgrade things.

if somebody would help us or are able to translate english/german or maybe more languages would be very nice. not only for me :)
