Please
If some of you dont already know, the way valve made ingame recording with demos, is the HIGHEST quality of ingame recording so far.
With certain console commands and settings ingame you can get 30 fps HD 1080P on any recorded video by using the demo system.
Ill explain how and reason why this should be in NS2.
Explanation:
When you want to record a high quality game video using third party programs, you need a good computer to get the perfect fps and quality.
With the Demo system, you can have a piece of ###### computer and get the highest quality videos still by using it correctly.
Here are the steps for recording with lets say fraps at 30 fps at a high resolution.
1.Get fraps.
2.Have a good computer with a lot of harddrive space.
3. Record for 20 seconds
4. Have a 4g video file.
5. Compress it
6. Quality goes down.
Now i love fraps, its great for anything but valve games because of the demo system. Let me explain how to get the highest quality on a lets say, 2002 dell. Ill be using tf2 as an example. THIS IS FOR LOW END COMPUTERS ONLY. Higher end dont need to mess with a lot of the graphic settings.
1.Start tf2, go in the lowest possible settings/resolution/etc..., keep it on DX9 (This is to keep fps constant on online play so it doesnt look like players are all over the place if you have random bursts of fps below 30)
2. Join a server or make one.
3. Type Record Demo in console, recording takes little to no hit at all on fps/lag/stuttering unlike fraps which can slow down gameplay.
4. Start doing stuff.
5. Type STOP in console to end recording.
6. Now exit the server, and put your settings on the highest possible and highest resolution.
7. Type demoui in console and load up the demo.
8. Pause it, type sv_cheats 1 in console, then Host_framerate 30
9. Heres where you need HD space, have at least 20g free depending on how long the video is, or do it in sections. 20g is like 2-3 minutes of a video.
10. Type startmovie
in console, do not add the avi after name which will save it as a avi and looses quality.
11. Unpause, close console, and wait till whatever you want is finished, it sometimes it sounds like it froze, but thats common and it really didnt.
12. Type endmovie in console when you want to finish
You should now have 100s-1000s of tga files in your tf2 folder also 1 avi file which is the sound.
**Get a program called virtual dub and load the sequence up and add the sound**
Now im not gonna explain this because it gets to indepth into video making than the real point of this thread, but if your smart with video resolution sizes and what not. Your outcome will be amazing.
Want some proof? These 2 videos are made by the demo recording ability in valve games.
I did this on
1G Ram
Nvidia 6800 Ultra
AMD64-FX55 Processer
80G Raptor HD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GinADhpaePU
Reason I personally think it should be added, is because it will give the ability to make such incredible videos at a very high quality easily without taking a performance loss.
It will also cut out the third party programs and will inspire others to make incredible videos and frag movies, movies to show off a mod, or a movie to show off mapping.
Its an incredible way to record any valve game so far, and is underused to much. It has great potential, you guys could even build off it and improve it. So far its a great system, and you guys should try and get in contact with valve about it.

I just hope it has the same type of function.
That's you know, the definition of demos. Anything else is just making a video.
It's perhaps my biggest grievance of League of Legends. That and lack of team matchmaking, but that's another story.
