Seems silly to have the marines holding the gun that low, usually you hold the gun at your shoulder if you're going to be shooting.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> ug, it would also take up a lot of the screen and ruin the feel. Part of what made ns feel so great was how it gave the appearance of a really wide FOV. Examine screenshots of ns1:
I too prefer seeing more of the weapon (old style), but, if you look at the old height/angle, the marine in front (firing the weapon) is holding the weapon at his mid-upper arm (between the elbow and shoulder) and the weapon in first-person is very high (like it SHOULD be IMO). Then, in the new height/angle, the marine in front (again, firing his weapon) is holding the weapon higher, at shoulder height, but the first-person weapon is much lower.
The new method cuts out a lot of the first-person detail on the weapon, and practically removes his hand from view. I personally would rather see more of the weapon and his hand, but I have a large 26" monitor and a high resolution. I think they should combine the two, keep the newer third-person model so the height of the weapon looks about shoulder height, but revert the first-person model back to the old method where it doesn't quite come up to half the screen height-wise (more realistic in terms of where you would hold the weapon if you were actually trying to hit a target).
Seriously, its not like the small amount of screen the weapon blocks is the reason you got killed by that skulk, if a skulk killed you with the old weapon height, he would kill you with the new weapon height, you just might see him half a second sooner.
At the very least, I would like to see the weapon brought up a little higher than the new one, perhaps between the old and new. Then add a minimal mode that reduces HUD icons and what not (granted the hud is already very minimal, which is great), and also lowers the weapon to add more viewable screen space.

The models are small, and it produces the feeling of having more vision than you should.
I would actually like to seem the view model even smaller, and try to recreate the feel of ns1 exactly, same with the shotgun.
Much rather have a game that looks nice.
