    The Alpha won't necessarily be released in exactly 24 hours. You just won't be able to purchase the SE by then. That much is certain.

    Indeed it is the special edition timer, but, the alpha IS supposed to be released the 26th, which is actually, in my time, in about 2 hours and 30 minutes, sooooo???? I confused myself....

    The news post says the game alpha will be available July 26th. So either that means that it will be available very late evening on Jul6 26, or it will be available in a few hours (or maybe later than that).

    The game should be released on the 26th. The timer on the site is simply a closer of Special Edition sales and not the launch of the Alpha "time", [however I could be wrong]....?

    hope that valve really dosn't screw that up, give some love to Europe and release it early cause if they gonna do the valve time thing again it will mean that I ( any many many others ) wont start playing it untill the 27th

    You know it's not a matter of love or hate for Europe right? It's just the whole 9 hour time difference. There's always someone a part of the world that's sleeping, if it's released early enough for Euro, the Aussies will whine, if it's to fit the Euros and Asia, then Americas will cry, etc.

    The first build is ready now according to twitter. It's just a matter of getting it up on Steam for a smooth distribution I suppose. That probably takes a day or so.

    Just so everyone does not misunderstand what they said on the ns2 community site on the twitter updates here it is.



    "The first NS2 alpha build is "done"! This is the first version of many versions to come. We hope you enjoy it on Steam in ~24 hours!."



    So unless i am READING that easy to understand twitter update wrong, they intened to release it in 24 hours from the time they posted that but now the counter on the site says 21 hours, so it can go either way i believe. I think they should clarify better through twitter on the release of the game to seperate it from the timer for the special edition counter.

    to do a steam release is actually simple- Upload & then tell it to send it out.

    The problem is with everyone who wants to upgrade to "Special edition" they have to manually upgrade every person and upload that new database of CD keys to steam BEFORE they can release so everyone who paid for the alpha can get it.

    true but i think what they should have done is release it to all of us then killed the pre order 24hr later so we could show it off to friends and make them more money and give us more people to kill. lol

    but if they are doing all of that manually then i don't blame them.

    The timer is for how long you can pre-order the special edition.

    The twitter said ~24 hours. The actual release time will be, of course, up to valve.
