I always hated the faux-leveling aspect of FPS games. I played CoD:MW2 recently and was completely put off because most of the other players had all the upgrades while I had to fumble around with a piece of ###### gun that had no accuracy or weapon upgrades. After several rounds of getting my ass handed to me I just put the game down. I didn't want to go through the hours and hours of grinding just so I could start on the same playing field with everyone else.
I don't want to see NS turned into this. NS dynamics came from the unique interplay of RTS and FPS elements and adding this sham of a leveling system would do nothing but harm. I even question the need for cosmetic changes. Do you need different armor? No, it's a FPS, you can't see it. Do you need a different gun color? No, you ought to be looking for aliens, not at how pretty your gun is. Achievements are celebrations of mediocrity (for the most part). YOU KILLED 300 SKULKS, GJ. Even though it was going to happen anyway if you continued to play the game. It's not an achievement, it's a foregone conclusion as a result of playing the game, but it's called an achievement anyway. It just never made any sense to me.

thats why we need some server for low lv, some other for average lv and a lot for high lv... anyway if u cant grind just because your guns need 5 % accuracy compared to others you simply sux and need skills...

i agree that cosmetic change nothing. anyway im sure we will be able to change our skin like in cs so that would be useless...
about the 300 skulk kill its fun to know how many beast you killed. after 3 year you can see something like 15 000 kill lol you feel hot ! if you dont like that then simply dont bother looking your achievement... i will personally look them each 30 min because im a little children noob without ability and brain lol

Does no one else realise that NS2 is an evolving game. The Kharaa grow and get better and the marines get more resources and get better. Having unlockables would ruin the jobs for the commanders as he will have nothing to make/build because everyone is getting Grenade Launchers right at the start (With damage upgrades and stuff. I suppose)
What we are talking about here is very similar to the combat mode in NS1. You fight, you get experience, you get better/better guns. Even though it is shorter than some of the other games like CoD or Battlefield you still do the same thing.

do i play ns1 right now ? nop i stopped playing for a couple of years now (2 or 3). if i would have something good to counter those newbie fade unable to play without script maybe i would. i dont want to play with script like all other because for me its cheating and i dont want to be part of this.
