<div class="IPBDescription">Discussing it's possibility in NS2 and the ups and down it would h</div>Edit: I just realized that there already was a squad system in NS1 (after looking around some), so this will be turned into a discussion about ideas for how the squad system can be enhanced, and discussing ideas for certain perks and abilities.

Some ideas for squad based abilities could be the commander spending x res and giving the squad leader a teleporter type gadget that can only be used once, and a squad member can use it to spawn wherever the squad leader drops it. This gadget could be balanced by requiring a fair amount of res, having it be a 1 use weapon, and by the fact that only squad members could spawn on it.

I have not played NS1 in a very long time but when I did, there was no squad system.

This is a great idea and I definitely would call it a requirement for a game like this. It would make it so much easier for players to team up, and also easier for the Commander to manage his team. The Battlefield system seems perfect for this. The Squad Leader does not need anything special besides being able to give his/her own waypoints that his/her squad can see.

An additional suggestion I'd add on is to allow the Commander to place team members in control groups, similar to RTS games. This way, you can have squads or individuals hot-keyed and can bring your attention to them easily and quickly, just like an RTS game.

You know it wouldn't be that hard to implement.

According to the latest we heard about squads NS2 already has squads, they appear to be broken up by colors, and you will respawn with your squad leader somehow. This may not be in the alpha.
