Dedicated Server Error

ShadowFaxShadowFax Join Date: 2003-02-23 Member: 13858Members
I'm trying to run the dedicated server file... the first time it ran it went through a lot of lines about missing models and such but I expected that. However, when I try to run the server executable it now spits this pack out and closes:

Error starting server

Any ideas?

try adjusting the -ip setting in the server.xml or cmd line argument.

It spit out that error when i tried setting the IP to external address. However leaving it at nothing or setting it to a internal address like 192.168.8.75 on my network worked.

Steam is running but I made the mistake of adding the "-save true" argument so I think it saved the "ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" argument somewhere... however I cannot find the XML file anywhere.

And voila, I added the "-ip 10.1.0.106" (my internal ip of course) and it worked!

This is where the server.xml should be

Windows XP: Documents and Settings/"YourUsername"/Application Data/Natural Selection 2/server.xml

    Windows Vista/7: Users/"YourUserName/AppData/Roaming/Natural Selection 2/server.xml

Edit this file with notepad++ or notepad.
