Deformable doors

possible onos/fade ability or affect for GL
I apologize in advance if this has already been suggested, after a quick search I didn't see this exact suggestion, however; what about deformable doors?

Or varying affects depending on the door class (if such a thing could be implemented, i.e. light door, heavy door, airlock door, security door, blast door, etc.) to where something like an onos could charge at/attack the door (maybe incur slight damage in the process too) and in the case of a light door deforming and disabling it after the first couple charges/attacks, but then completely smashing it open after 4 or 5 where a blast door might have a few dents but nothing noticeable after even a a few minutes of aliens trying to break it down.

Door classes that fall between the two extremes could exhibit varying changes after being damaged; an airlock door might not fully open or malfunction and open/close a few times before fully opening. Or a security door might slowly grind across its tracks but still function (though, more slowly) while making a loud racket when activated (alert anyone/thing nearby that the door is being activated).

The welder could also come into play; if a door has been damaged blocking the marines from taking an optimal path to the hive/node/etc. they could repair it to open that path back up (or at least make it more accessible). Or, if doors could be welded shut, the aliens could break it down.

I don't think I saw this mentioned before. I think it sounds like a great idea. Might be a modder idea as well. It would come in very handy for a co-op mod.

From what I remember, Marines will be able to seal doors. One of the Onos abilties (the one that deals the most damage) allows him to break through sealed doors (just like in the announcement trailer).

I don't find the exact page right now, but it was written when the new Model for the Onos was introduced.

    EDIT:
    I found it

"Gore: This is a basic melee attack, in which he bucks his head and gores targets with his horn. Instead of just doing damage though, he can fling targets around. With an effective attack, he should be able to knock back a few marines at a time, disabling them for a few seconds while they get back on their feet. Gore will do plenty of damage, but in the hands of a skilled player, the knockback should be the most effective aspect of this ability. Gore can also be used to smash through doors that have been welded shut, as shown in our teaser video."

    Word from the devs:

There are some doors that will be weldable shut by the Marines. Then an Onos later can smash down that door. It is rendered unweldable after that.

Hmm... That's pretty close to what I had in mind, though, I was thinking of having this apply to all doors except those marked "unbreakable/invincible/blastdoor" and to where the aliens could affect the paths first instead of requiring marines to wield doors shut first. That and have multiple states: working/damaged/inoperative/destroyed

Well that's basically how it works, any standard door will be weldable and bustable, of course you can't do it with just any door because you need the deform animation, so it only works on standardised doors.

Plus it has degrees of damage, or at least I'm assuming the onos can't simply bust the door down with one headbutt, and I'm also guessing you can't fix/open a door that has a giant onos-shaped lump in the middle of it.

It's also quite possible we'll have the option of tying doors into the dynamic infestation, so if a blast door is reached by the infestation it buggers the controls and seals it shut. So gorges could just build a structure near the controls and it would hold the door shut.
