I know you release regular twitter/facebook updates, but can we possibly get a stickied topic here of what you are currently working on/fixing as well as the changes/fixes you plan to implement in the next patch and each subsequent patch thereafter? Possibly also requests of anything specific you would like testing on.
It would be nice to see what you have already resolved and what's going to be fixed. I don't see much feedback on the getsatisfaction threads so this should also help us see what we should be focusing on for testing. This will also stop people from posting the same bug/problem a hundred times, if something has been reported and is being investigated we can focus on other issues in the game that may not have been found yet. You can also get the community to focus on specific problems in order to find a solution faster.
*Edit - Yes I know there is an "Alpha Feedback" thread, but that thread doesn't tell us much.
Example:
<u>We are currently aware of the following problems which have not yet been investigated:</u>
- Players falling through map on loading
- problem 2
- etc
<u>The following problems are currently being investigated:</u>
- Connection issues
- problem 2
- etc
<u>We would like specific further testing with the following:</u>
- Hosting a dedicated server for x amount of players on x map
- wall clipping on x map, x area
- etc
<u>Patch xxx - Estimated release date xxx:</u>
- Fixed connection issues
- Added waypoints for xx
- etc

The only thing I see is that this might be a bit time consuming, so at the very least are you going to release patch notes along with each patch?
Something in a standard, easy to read format so we can find what we're looking for and skip all the details we may or may not care about :P
It would help us to know what is going on, a, and b so we know what to look for to make sure that your patch didn't break something else.
Long story short, I agree, it'd be awesome :)

<i>"Looks like there are no problems being worked on in Unknown Worlds Entertainment."</i>
The only thing they need to work on now is the FPS or we will never be able to test the rest on a way it should be tested :)

I don't think it would be that time-consuming to update a short schedule. even if it were 30 minutes a day (and i doubt that) it would be worth the effort. It's a good way to prevent people from spamming the forum or getsatisfaction with already known bugs and help uwe to guide the attention of the alpha-testers to specific problems.
Spend a few minutes updating a post, save hours down the line.

...What's the problem?
but somebody could gather those together in one list.
Care to read more than one line of the post?
It would be great to have some Alpha feedback "feedback" for players to know what bugs are already well-known, or what still needs testing, and on top of that, players will see that their contributions are making a difference. I'm sure the small amount of effort will pay off big time in terms of players knowing what to look out for. I also like the idea of the devs pointing out specifically what needs testing. I'm sure that way people will get to the bottom of all the bugs existing in certain areas or aspects of the game in no time!
However, I don't think it's mandatory at this point.

This thread has a good idea maybe it could be updated at the end of each day.
Each day is probably harsh. Merely making a change log for each patch would suffice.
The marine magically disappears?
But, even if they do not have a system already setup for that, I too would love to see changelogs, mostly what is fixed by the latest patch. They can then if they want, expand that to cover things we should help investigate, major bugs they already know about, etc. But simple changelogs would take no more than 5 minutes on the day they release the patch.

I agree. Would be nice, but at this point, I think it's to early to start doing this.
P.S. The info doesn't have to be in this forum. It could be stuck in the wiki or on some other web page.
Pretty sure they are showing the lack of shadows in 1st person; but the shadow is there in 3rd person.
Oh yeah. That makes sense. I wonder how you'd even get around that without wasting resources on something that isn't being rendered...
I guess they could make a super low-poly, untextured marine offcamera to cast the shadow.
