<div class="IPBDescription">Seem to have some sort of wierd lag in connection</div>I haven't played NS in years (do to lack of computer/internet) and now that I can again I seem to be getting some sort of strange stutter lag anytime I join a server.
I don't experience it when I run the game locally so I'm assuming that it must be related to my connection.
When I enable net_graph the bottom red line keeps repeating a cycle of rising up in a curve then dropping to zero in a straight line.
NS is the Only game I have this problem with, otherwise I'd think it had something to do with my modem/internet connection.
I've tried changing hl.exe's priority to low and it has no effect on the problem.
I'd really like to be able to play NS again and have tried everything I can think of. I'm really hoping someone can find a fix for this.

Try setting the hl.exe priority higher. It seems like perhaps you are either getting lag spikes or your system is getting very angry for some reason.
I forget what that red line symbolizes, but sounds like something to look at.
I've tried changing the priorities for hl.exe.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled NS. Both before and after defragmenting my drive.
I've done the best I can to fiddle with my rates and settings in game (keep in mind I was trying to recall settings from years ago).
I've looked into my drivers, and if any other program I was running is interferring with NS.
Every single thing I've done has had exactly zero effect on the problem. NS is still my favorite FPS and I haven't been able to play it for years, so I've already spent a lot of time trying to fix this myself before posting here.
Here's a quick article on the networking stuff. Scroll down to where it talks about net graph.

Happy hunting.
Maybe a few things I can add can narrow the problem down, if the OP in fact experiences similar issues.
The lag seems to happen under high packet loads; filled servers (test in both bad ns_ and co_, and able) and during peak action such as 5 marines coming into the room and opening fire. During a full scale siege the game is unplayable (until the game rubberbands and makes me an epic burst fire gorgey).
Latency has jumped from 75 to 650+, stays at 650+ for a second or two and then comes back down. 350 is probably the average of my spike latencys.
I also tested putting myself in similar situations in CS 1.6 and couldn't trigger any spikes.
Thanks in advance to any advice/help/questions.
(edit: i haven't touched my setting other than the gamma_0 fix for the black UI)
I was using Centurylink DSL (and was paying for their fastest connection) and am now on a Cable connection. It seems that something with that specific connection was causing the problem. And let me restate that NS and other halflife 1 games were the only thing that was showing a problem on the old connection.
Anyways, sorry to hear that others might be having the same issue and I hope this will help with someone finding out what is causing it and creating a fix if possible. I suspect it has to do with the way the ISP handles the data, seeing as my ISP is the only thing that has changed since my last post.
