For your Australian one, you should adjust the background flag so that the whole southern cross is visible in the lower right, much the same as the EU circle of stars has been repositioned for visibility. It'd look a lot better imo. :)

Hmm, I'll add my desktop here as well (dual monitor 1680x1050). It's a combo of NS2 vs NS1 <div align='center'><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_qeZkMwmgB9E/SP05Lxep53I/AAAAAAAAAd8/Mnf5UHeZhjI/ns2-dual001-1680x1080-prev.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> This is a preview image, you have to get the last one in the list on Picasaweb.</div>
<a href="http://www.existence-unknown.com/news/_article/going-from-single-to-multi-monitor-setup.html" target="_blank">Download link at the bottom of page</a> (with a preview of how it looks on my monitors <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/tongue.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />)
Is there any chance you would consider helping me out with the background image for an NS2 youtube channel? I'm using it to promote and inform about NS2. The link for the channel is in my Sig. As you can see, my current effort is decidedly amateur.
I'd be happy to lend a hand to help spread the word :D
what exactly would you like me to do?
Are you after a background image? Account avatar image? are there any other banners that are not currently present on the page that you would like to add?
I'll admit i know quite little about youtube media and the options available.
Are there any particular images you would like used, or a specific theme? Do you have a visual style you would like to stick with, a colour theme perhaps?
let me know what you'd like and i'll get started straight away.
from the far side of each marines head, inwards toward the yellow area, should be visible on a 1280x768 resolution. the yellow area should be behind the youtube content with perhaps the very edges visible. the text is almost in the same position as it was before, so i guess it will be okay.
don't know how it will align within youtube either... guess we will have to try it and see.
he does have a shadow but its over saturated by the light source as i have the blend mode set to soft light. makes it look like the shadow isn't connected to the feet because of the shine on the floor. i'll tweak it tomorrow and redo the shadow, i wasn't happy with the distance blur today but i ran out of time so i just set it to soft light to hide the sharp edge :P
I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier. That looks fantastic and far more professional than the job I did! Thankyou so much for lending a hand!
I will replace the old image tommorow when I put up a new video and see how it looks. If there is anything you'd like me to shoutout to in return (a blog etc.) just let me know it's the least I could do!
well i've not been able to redo the shadow, been to busy at work AND the source file is on my HDD at work so i can't even do it at home on the weekend :( grrr most of the area in question will be behind the youtube content anyway so its not to big a deal i think.
@ NS2HD, your most welcome mate :D
no need for shout outs, just think of me next time you'd like some graphics done, and i'd be happy with that :D
@ Intellix - is there anything in particular you'd like to see, perhaps a previous work in 1920x1080x2 res? or a particular theme for a new piece?
eitherway i'll start work on something anyways.
my monitor setup at home is 1920x1080x2 so i don't know why i didn't think of this :P doh
My try at a wallpaper for my laptop. <a href="http://www.imagebanana.com/view/y2awkisy/BG0000000.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/y2awkisy/thumb/BG0000000.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
I've been very inspired by NS2HD's work, and would like to follow in his steps but not try to steal the spotlight from him. Of course we're all here as a community trying to promote NS + NS2, and I really would like to start a youtube channel and get to the point where once the game is playable enough (at release or even a late beta build) to do some game casting. Of course with the game still in a Beta state, there's a lot of opportunity to talk about it, whether it's on the forums, in the actual game, with friends, and of course through youtube videos to let the community and concerned newcomers know what NS2 is all about.
I've made somewhat of a mockup background for my youtube channel which happens to be already created and still being worked on. Once everything is fully complete (background, my own set of intros for videos be it an after effects file or an image, etc), then I'll probably get to work on doing some videos.
Now I know what most of you may possibly be thinking, "Well NS2HD already sorta has things covered."
That is true. But when you look at other games such as StarCraft, and you look at the ammount of people who do game casting, talk about the development, etc, it gives their communities even more options and viewing pleasures through multiple sources.
I think what NS2HD is doing is absolutely brilliant and is incredibly inspiring like I mentioned in my first sentence of this post.
My channel is called NS2Observatory. It will probably be viewable once I get my first video up. But in the meantime, I came to this thread because I am very amazed with the quality of images that MotherGoose is creating.
Here is my mockup background so far of what I have. Feel free to criticse (constructively please :D).
What I just had in mind is if in someway, you could take the existing Observatory from NS2 and make it a part of the logo with signals from either side, but not overpowering the logo of the channel name. Something similar to this -> <a href="http://media.realestatelifestyle.com/images/rel_radio_logo_web.jpg" target="_blank">http://media.realestatelifestyle.com/image...io_logo_web.jpg</a>
I appreciate all of your help and support guys, and I hope as a community, we can get the word out to people who aren't familiar with NS2 and make it even more successful than it already is.
Cheers.
PS- MotherGoose, if you so far like the idea of what I have, I can PM/email you the photoshop file to do some editing if you wish.
sounds like an awesome idea, the more the merrier :D
i'd be happy to help out, send files to gamergear 'at' G mail dot com :P
let me know what resolution you would like files in (pretty important), also any other specifics i.e. colour theme, specific text (other than NS2Observatory that its) or fonts styles.
also if what types of image files you'd like... sigs, avatars, banners, backgrounds, you name it.
Also I think its a good idea for another youtube channel. Not to push NS2HD aside, his videos are awesome! but the more channels, videos and commentary the better at this point :)

Heh, I would do commentary on NS2 if I were able to actually record and play at the same time, but I don't have matter/antimatter powered computer like NS2HD :P
Instead I'm doing the next best thing with trying to promote him trough other forums and my own channel by featuring his and "therealflayra" video's on my channel.
It's kinda arranged the same as <a href="http://media.realestatelifestyle.com/images/rel_radio_logo_web.jpg" target="_blank">http://media.realestatelifestyle.com/image...io_logo_web.jpg</a> is.
That is awesome! And I just got a great idea. The Observatory's shape is already in the shape of the letter O. So if you just add bservatory to the rigth of it, that would be epic. I'm not sure if the other structure's are necessary, but let's see how it looks :P
