Yeah, but I haven't been able to find a server with people on it for 2 weeks now, so maybe releasing bots is a good idea.
I haven't seen anywhere that says the bots won't be in the public alpha release. That said, I don't expect the bots to have any reasonable intelligence (yet), so don't expect any real competition.
The reason nobody has been on for two weeks is that we are all waiting for the next alpha release before playing again. The current state is almost unplayable, and certainly not fun.

I don't mind dumb bots, just ones that run around like headless chickens to shoot at are fine with me.
Also sounds like a good idea to me. I can't imagine the bots will only be used for internal testing purposes... they might as well throw in an extra 'practise' mode using the bots or so...
