All it takes is a little bit of cash every month. At The Net Gamer, we offer you three different ways to get your server online.

Shared CPU Servers:
This is the most common rental server that you will find today, and optimal for those gamers just looking for one server. Many servers all running on a single computer all sharing the two CPUs in the computer. Prices for these servers start at $29.99 per month. Discounts are available for longer terms.

Dedicated CPU Servers:
This is the hard core gamer's solution to server rental. Your server is assigned to a dedicated CPU. No CPU sharing, the CPU is all yours to load up as you see fit. Nobody else's server running on the computer can affect your gameplay. It's all yours. Prices for these servers start at $149.99 per month. Discounts are available for longer terms.

Colocation:
Your computer. Your applications. You provide the computer, we provide the unmetered connection. Run gameservers, webhosting, FTP servers, email servers, you name it. You are free to use the connection in any manner you like, as long as the content is legal. Control everything from home using VNC, PCAnyWhere, Terminal Services, NetMeeting, or any other remote access program. Prices for colocation start at just $69.99 per month.

To get an idea of your ping to our servers, jump into any of our previously rented servers for a test drive. Or just ping our router: 66.28.23.65.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Net Gamer, we are a well-established and respected game server host. How exactly does the shared plan work for NS? How can you run more than one NS server per box?

Id love to see the performance when you have 2-3 servers on one box.

sounds like windows since its not as high as linux and the advertisement is false, HLDS isint a threaded application so only one processor is used. In linux you could use kernel tunneling tricks to force the software to use a certain processor, though it barely works.

Anyway, why the shameless plugging? I thought there was some rule about advertising :o

    Guess not...

    That's easy.

All computers are dual CPU servers.

There are over two dozen of these computers to put all sorts of servers on.

NS fills in server availability gaps on existing computers.

We're familiar with the CPU requirements of NS. It's not an issue for us.

Check out any of the four NS servers we've already rented:

    66.28.23.69:27035
    66.28.23.84:27045
    66.28.23.86:27035
    66.28.23.94:27035

If you like what you see, we can get one set up for you tonight!

BTW: The multithreading dual CPU utilization issue you brought up has been discussed ad nauseam already. Check out these two threads:

    2CPU
    BF1942

Even though the HL server is singlethreaded, the OS will shift the server thread from CPU to CPU depending on each CPUs individual load at the time of its resource request. We've got 20 months of experience renting all kinds of HL servers. It works, and works well.

nice servers, one CPU which is sadly wasted =(

We really need to petition Leon Hartwig to make HLDS a threaded server, this would really benefit the vast majority of SMP systems out there. Oh well, ideal thinking i guess =(

LOL I had to sign up to these forums and make this post when I saw this crap. I just cancelled my NetGamer server about a week ago cause of the crap support they have. My server was down for nearly a week a few weeks ago and I sent numerous emails and phone calls without response. Finally [NG]Owner gets back to tell us he decided to go on vacation for a week without telling anyone and decided it was worth the risk to that the servers weren't being monitored. This wasn't even the first time I had to deal with crap like this in October my server was down for 4 days and stats pages work only about 70% of the time. Yeah his rates might be lower then other companies but if you pay for crap you usually get crap. Right now I'm still trying to figure out what my clan is gonna get for a server but to replace them but I don't think we could do any worse. I've narrowed it down to Artofwarcentral, Griffinrun, and Xgamingservers, also if I could get Gamedaemons I would but since they are sold out I guess I can't. Anyone else know of any other companies that are really good?

Jupiter, and or those who are interested:

    1) Servers were monitored in my absence. Your server remained down for that length of time due to a motherboard issue which was resolved immediately upon my return. You are correct in that there was no one available to handle correspondence in my absence. That horrendous oversight will not occur again.

    2) All affected customers received a week of compensation for the downtime, three extra days than we were required to as per our SLA. This was proactively done, no request in this instance for obvious reasons was required.

    3) The support experience you had during this one period of time is not indicative of the level of support we provide the remaining 360+ days of the year. We recognized the inconvenience we caused and compensated not only accordingly, but above and beyond what we promise in our SLA.

    4) Regarding stats, I have no idea what you mean. Our stats computer's uptime is excellent. Besides, had your stats not updated correctly, an email or phone call to us would have solved whatever problem you had.

Every company will have customers who are dissatisfied for one reason or another. There is no way around it. Sometimes the dissatisfaction is due to things within our control. We learn from these mistakes and ensure that they will not happen again. Othertimes the dissatisfaction is due to items out of our control. In the final analysis though it is unfortunate that The Net Gamer did not earn the opportunity to turn the experience Jupiter had into something more positive. To that end, if you contact us again Jupiter, via the email address or phone number we have on record for you, we'll get another server set up with the mod of your choosing free of charge for two weeks to try to make things right by you. If you are still disatisfied with our product and support, we'll part ways again.
