<div class="IPBDescription">Beta and full game version</div>I personally wish everyone will stop whining about how long NS2 team is taking to create the game
The company is doing a great job considering it has limited funds for development.
Even companies with lots of funds takes a long time to release the next game!!!!
A GREAT example of this would be Blizzard, after a decade, is releasing SC2 part 1 (Terran)
If you rush making the game you're going to get ###### results,
with lots of mistakes that weren't fixed due to pushed production time schedules.
Then all the people who whined about wanting the beta or the game to be released will call the game crappy, &
consider it a waste of their time/ money.
During that time, paid game reviewers will PUBLISH bad reviews to the general public calling the long anticipated game
a FAILURE or a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT compared to their old original counterpart NS.
They will likely attribute it to the pushed production of the game & not taking the time to really tune it up for production.
This will only DESTROY a GREAT game title & cause the company to lose sales on NS2...
I'm sure i missed a lot of the points I wanted to make because I have a cluttered mind, but
the best thing to do is stop complaining so much and enjoy NS or some other game while you wait :)
When beta is announced you will be that much more surprised and happy to hear it.
Love you Team NS :)

as of now the game dosnt look spectacular compared to other games on the market. it has decent graphics, a strong art style, and the animation we've seen are OK (work in progress im assuming) but the only thing this game will have going for it if its released in a year from now is its small loyal fan base... it will be too hard to attract others to purchase a game that looks like it was developed in 2003.
UWE does need to get things rolling a little faster if they expect this game to be a financial success. the longer it takes, the harder the market will be to penetrate.

Wow. If this were a game being released in 2003, I'd be amazingly impressed.
The visuals of this game are still beyond stunning. Of course we still havn't seen atmospheric lighting implemented yet besides the teaser trailer, and a couple screenshots that some of the official mappers were working with when the editor were released. The models are really nice looking, animations are superb.
My only complaint is the obvious lag issue currently, and maybe their physics which should be fixed. Just wait for the next patch and you will see lots of improvements. Of course with implementing more code, they're also creating new bugs. It's expected but just be patient.
Things such as dynamic infestation, huge dependence on dynamic lighting, etc... Remember, graphical prowess is not just determined by the number of pixels in a texture map or the polygons in a model.
and i agree with

time keeps passing on and theres better games being released this game has been in progress since the announcement in 2005 since the release of HL2 and HL already released 2 Episodes and 3 is coming soon and it is going to be the last HL2 Episode! I mean come on...i know times are tough but uhh gotta face the facts. I think HL3 is going to come out by the time this game gets released...and by then HL is going to have MUCH better graphics and effects and ###### we cant even imgine yet. lol
if it was going to take this long seriously, you guys should of gone with Source Engine of HL2, release it as a mod or somthing would of been alot quicker simpler and better. you guys would of prob had made more money too by sponsors or who knows maybe vavle would of wanted to licenses with you guys or something! by all the hits and players of playing NS1 in Source Engine w/ added features and stuff. i think that would of been a better idea. considering that i already bought NS2SE

they gave reason as to why they didnt go with the source engine. apparently it didnt have some features that they needed for ns2... which i can understand. but i would have gladly paid $40 for NS1 on source if it was available. for the time its taking them to release this game they would have been better off releasing NS1: Source to attract a larger/newer fanbase then began production on NS2.

Honestly, please get a clue before you come rampaging on these forums with your rage. The source engine is absolutely ancient the spark engine is several generations ahead and has the scalability which the source engine is clearly lacking. limited number of dynamic lights? That's so 2004.
I'm sure with all your intimate knowledge of engine and game design have made some fantastic mod for the source engine or perhaps even your own game? Haha I think not somehow.
You armchair developers make me laugh.
One main reason was that the programming required to be source compatible, meaning they had to read trough loads upon loads of code to make it so. With Spark, they have all the freedom in the world if they want new features they can simply add it to their engine.
And Source is showing it's age as well, even if it does still look spiffy IMHO. HL3 needs Source2 <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/tongue.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
The only thing I'm slightly irked about is that- in my opinion- UWE will have had my $30 for at least 2 years before the final game is released.
I'm all for supporting indie developers (I bought constellation and playtested NS1 3.x) but so much can change in 2 years that I can't say for sure that I'll be in a position to be able to play the game come then, and as I tied my NS2 key to Steam I doubt I could get a refund if I wanted to.
As far as graphical features go, gameplay and art are what makes games timeless. NS2 could be updated with extra fanciness later, but it wouldn't really matter. We're getting diminishing returns. NS2 looks fantastic and art is going to be the primary way to make it look better. Look around at other games. The focus on graphics have shifted to what the artists can do with the engine. Gamers are learning to appreciate even lo-fi art. If anything, community features seems to be the big seller now.
sorry if it's not fitting, didn't read the thread ;)

it's because people have put money into this.
Well I’m one of the defenders and yea, I’m getting tired of it. The complainers aren’t going to be happy even when the game is in the gamma version, so why spend the effort to answer them. On the other hand it gives them something to do. I just wish they would do it somewhere else.
I find it hard to see if anyone or myself will be playing (on a daily basis) this since MoH and New Vegas just released. Also Black Ops will be out soon and even catacylsm will be out in December. Minecraft has a whole new update coming out in halloween and who knows Blizzard may announce Diablo 3 at christmas so really if UW wants to get a bulk of their players to stick with their games they need something to be released in a matter of weeks! I know they can do it they just need more people working on it..

lol.....
As for Snoopie's comment and everyone else's... have fun playing a load of new releases that have all mirrored counter-strike in one way or another, and that is now going back to 2000.
The 'popular' games are so boring now. Just safe games decided upon by business rather than the designers.
I personally feel tricked into putting $40 down a year ago, I usually NEVER preorder games.

I could have linked to hundreds of other articles about that topic but why bother when that's the first hit on Google and it does an amazing job of describing it in detail?
yes support infinity ward...........
Treyarch...
I prefer wait for a good game than a fast release with a lot of troubles :)
And i don't care if the game is "has been" when done...when i see people still playing the fist CS or DoD, i don't fear about NS 2 :p
