Mappers screwed if you didn't buy special edition

I'm currently working on my map which the main feature of won't even work until it is added into the editor. My main concern is since I didn't manage to order the special edition, I cannot even go in game to test my level.
I may not be alone in this weird predicament. I guess I will just have to build the entire level and "perfect" it over the months before I can test it(in beta?). Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, I know that is painfully obvious. i was just pointing out the pointlessness of having access to the mapping tools if you pre-order now, as you cant test your level :P
yeah exactly
I might be missing something but theres a bunch of important stuff that doesnt work in the editor - only ingame. Example being particle effects.
Particle effects are just eye-candy really, they can be added in at any time. I mean you can test the look and feel (lighting shadow play) of an area within the editor, the particle effect don't really have to be in for that purpose...
The game and the editor are both in alpha and NS2 has seen a bit more development then the editor, so of course there will be things the game can do which the editor can't (as of yet). but that sure as hell doesn't mean the none SE people can't make maps...
For gameplay testing it is definitely not needed yet as I said, with the game being in alpha state and all. And that is actually the only reason you'd want to test a map ingame. Alongside stability and lag testing, but heck the engine isn't even optimised at all so those would be futile as well :P
Besides I'm certain once they come back to patching up the editor, the particle and other stuffs will be in there in the end :)
I rarely fire up in-game, there's not really anything you need to test until your level is completely finished, in which case you may need to go in-game to check on the top down/alpha's and do the extra niggly stuff. Although I'm finding there's no point in adding any end-level entities while I develop as it will just hinder progress.
The cinematic editor is like the particle effects program.
This is an old thread from alpha times. Since everyone who pre-orders can play now, anyone who has pre-ordered can test their maps just fine.
