Question about buying

Hey guys, I'm new here and I was interested in pre-ordering the game but had a few questions.

1. Will the Special Edition, or other non-standard editions, be available to pre-order again?
(I seen the faq's page on this but was wondering if there were any updates)

2. If I were to pre-order the NS2 Standard Edition, would I gain access to the current alpha builds and be able to play online?

    1. No, the special edition is sold out(until UWE runs out of money :D)

    2. No you get Beta access, not alpha, but you get the updated alpha version SDK wich you should be able to use (anyone?)

If you get the Standard Edition, then you have access to all the tools to design levels and what not for NS2. The only drawback is that you can't play in the alpha.

The best thing to do is watch and wait and see if the this game gets to the final stages or even buy it on it's release date. A small studio like this can easily go bust if their funding dries up. Since they still have a long way to go before the release of this game, it is best to play it safe and just "wait and see".

Pre-ordering can be considered an investment in this case. The money you pay goes to finishing this game, which you do not know whether it will be good or not, but the developers will try to make the best game possible with their abilities. But at the same time, if something happens and lets say they go bankrupt, you won't get your money back.

A little shrewd, but if you don't really need to use the editing tools, this thinking makes a lot of sense. Waiting till Beta is probably a safe enough move.

Before the alpha came out, everyone (SE and regular buyers) had access to the engine test, which was an early build of the NS2 engine. I'm sure it has changed alot, but you would presumably be able to look at that with just a regular edition.

why are you discussing over measly $40 like it was a major investment?
if you like this project then pre-order. it will help UWE and if they happen to fail, big deal, you saved yourself from one date with a dinner-wh*re ^^

for me personally the SE pre-order was justified by JUST ns1
