  I was just about to post a thread with this same question. I would really love to be able to have access to the alpha and would be willing to get the special edition for it (something I never do for games).
  
  Wish I had heard about it sooner. I'm sure they have their reasons but I'm not quite sure why the SE doesn't come with alpha access anymore. It would seem that it would make more money that way.

  Short version, because the SE is no longer available for purchase. Only a preorder of the standard edition, which does not include Alpha access or the SE black armor. It does however include Beta access, when the game reaches that stage in development.
