I'm sure there are a number of us still lurking here waiting for the actual release (and hopefully a discount for that occasion) because I'm one of those :P
Then there are those who had fond memories of NS1 but got tired of checking this site for the development status for obvious reasons, who will probably buy this game when it gets released.
So if there are already 19k players now, we're going to get a whole lot more when it appears on Steam.

Rest assured, when we get close to the limit, we'll make sure people are aware, so that they have time to get their copy.
By the way, pre-ordering it now will save you money, if you are european. The Dollar sucks at this moment. I paid only 26 Euros, there are not many games with a low price like that. Usually they cost 40 Euros. Maybe in 3 months you will pay 35 Dollars....or maybe 15...well, I think 26 is more than acceptable.
Edit: Plus, you do something for the American economy, they need it right now, hrhr.

###### Newb -ell was in here when they spoke of Dynamic Infestation saying that its great and if they can use it for gameplay and not just for graphics then it will be impressive. So I think hes obviously willing to help get NS2 on Steam as soon as its out :D

Yep, installing it as we speak :D Just got a huge megachill creeping through my spine, i had finally gotten a hold of enough cash for a key and then i see this thread with people talking about 15k+ registered keys :p
I've said it before and will say it again (I'm probably a dull person so don't mind sounding dull on the interweb) - if UWE has got close to the VAT threshold in the UK then it really ought to consider whether they need to charge VAT on their sales. There's a description here of why Steam charges VAT - all UWE needs is 3.5k sales to the UK (either within the last year or in the next month) and it would seem to be in the regime; unless the proportion of UK purchases is quite low it seems to be heading that way if they aren't there already...
The other interesting question is whether UWE even knows where people are that have purchased the game.
