Marines need a support role

Otherwise all the people who play gorge/medic/engie are always going to be alien!



I like that commanders get to take over welding now, but I definitely hope the flamethrower gets nerfed a lot and becomes the NS2 version of the welder, relegated to removing DI and other buildings. Maybe a niche attack of clearing vents.

    Yup, Gorge and Marines can do this and have been able too for a very long time now.

    Helping with building and welding teammates is support enough IMO. Grenades should also be a support role like in NS1 IMO instead of the godmode kill everything weapon they are now.

    I think we will. Back in one of the previous builds i noticed an untextured welder model that looked like the one from ns1.

    I don't know if you need a specific noncombat role, you could just make different combat roles, the flamethrower for example doesn't require you to aim, so give it some other skills to draw on, and suddenly players who can't aim but have other skills have a role on the marine team.

    Many ways to win is a good way to make a game fun for many people.

    The flamethrower could be the Marine's goto support weapon (once its damage is fixed and blinding fixed/removed) and Dynamic Infestation has actual effects instead of looking pretty (and is implemented).

    I'd like for Alien buildings to stop working if their line of DI is cut off from a hive. Thus, a flamethrower cutting lanes of DI would unpower alien structures. Pretty good support role (doing something useful which isn't just damage).

    Go in with an lmg and hope the skulks go for you while the guy with the shotgun blasts em to pieces

    Support role: stand in front of heavy train in case of onos devour.
    NEW support role: stand in front of marine push in case of lerk snipers.

    I like support roles but then, NS1 didn't have specific marine roles but people who liked supporting still found ways to do it by welding armour, building and like people have said, being the one to jump in and let the people who can aim do the killing behind you :) So I'm sure there will be plenty of ways to support anyway in ns2.

    I do like the idea of the ammo person though.
