Alright. So the system specs aren't super awesome:

Core 2 Quad 9550 @ 2.83 GHZ - 4 Cores , 4 Threads
8 GB DDR2
OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
50/15 connection
This machine does nothing but host NS2 Dedicated Server.

I just saw an influx of people hop on and destroy the server process before the host reached 50% utilization.

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I produced a dump of server.exe when I saw it had a 1.9G memory usage. I'll find somewhere to fire that off to.

I'd like to set a player limit that won't kill the server process. I had just copied and pasted some server start line and didn't realize it was set to 24 players. I don't know how many players were on when it died, so I dropped it to 12 players. If you guys fill it up and you start warping around, let me know here and I'll drop it to 10. I'd like to provide a playable server for some number of players, just need your help doing so (looking into a xeon box capable of 24 threads). If you start warping around, say so in chat, if I have vnc open to the machine, I can drop the player limit.

    Saw a topic in the feedback about multi core support, so that's all gravy. If this rig can't do 12 stable, I'll drop it to 10 when people start complaining.

    Just played for a bit and it was performing fantastically with 6v6. Also happens to be the best ping for me (I'm in WA).

    Of course, we didn't spam hydras and the marines didn't spam turrets, so who knows that it'd be like if that happened. But a few here and there didn't seem to mess anything up.

    Its the hydra/sentry spam, not the player limit, thats causing the problems. However, 12 seems to be the max for other servers.

    I think UWE mentioned in their twitter that 12 is the recommended limit for now.

    Just played on your server for a while, seemed to be going pretty well. Kind of hard to tell as a lot of people had higher pings but didn't seem to have too much lag.

    Thanks for your feedback guys. 12 seems to be the sweet spot like you said. Derp just crashed, so I brought it back up. WER catches the crash, so a batch file can't just re-launch it. If it goes down when I'm sleeping, the server's SOL.

    As was mentioned, the server isn't threaded yet, so the only thing that's going to get you more players is a cpu with a higher freq per core.
    I just saved off another, yet considerably smaller dump file from taksman that I'll try to get to UWE sometime tomorrow. With the exception of Frank using the map to his advantage (angry fist shake), that was pretty fun and a spectacular difference over the previous version. I'll keep trying to keep the server up as much as I can (when it crashes).
