I'm a bit confused on the current resource setup. As I understand it there are three types of resources:
<ul><li>Plasma</li><li>Carbon</li><li>Energy</li></ul>
Which can be team, personal, or structural resources.
Plasma = Used to purchase upgrades (comm) or weapons (marines/aliens) and can be a team or personal resource
Carbon = Used to purchase buildings (comm) and is only a team resource
Energy = Used to purchase MAC/Drifter and is only a structural resource (i.e. only on the hive or cs).
Is this correct?

In game I have no idea how I get more, I just check to see if the numbers are big enough to buy what I want. I know I need more res nodes for more of everything, but I don't know the difference (if any) between Plasma/Carbon and how to get more of either.
And to purchase Macs and Drifters. You are wrong.
Carbon and Plasma is gained from Extractors. (Plasma from Kills too?)
The more you have, the more you upgrade the faster you get it. (Dunno the rates atm, you could search them in the lua folder, or somewhere in the forums i guess)
Energy regenerates. (How fast depends on Structure or Lifeform, could be found in the LUA files too)
Plasma: Personal
Carbon: Team
Energy: Structure
So to buy weapons or to evolve as an aliens you use plasma.
The commander uses carbon to build stuff.
Triggering a structure's active ability uses energy from the structure's private pool.
I must say it's a bit confusing that building MACs costs both plasma and energy. That is confusing. It should be one or the other.
Hm, you're right. Never noticed that.
I wonder if that's intended, because spending plasma on MACs and Drifters would make much more sense.
IF a RT is fully upgraded its 2plasma and 2carbon every 6s.
IF you still wont believe me, look into the ns2/lua folder...
kResourceTowerResourceInterval = 6(balance.lua), havent found the other stuff yet - but i wont search any longer - do it yourself.

you can currently upgrade RTs 3 times...
<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->kShotgunMinDamageRange = 20
kShotgunMaxDamageRange = 2<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
that doesn't sound right does it? how can the the max be less than the min?
I think from what I saw in build 158, upgrades no longer affect carbon income, only plasma income? I could be wrong, though.
Plasma is not given from kills, only from resourcers.
Oh boy, does it hurt?... Do you even read ingame tooltips?
Every upgrade improves the rate by 33%...
I said <b>a fully upgraded RT </b>(fully means 3times, thats why i said full and not 1 or 2) regens 2 instead of 1 carbon (and plasma? - Captain said not anymore) every 6s. Now think again.
Hints:
3 Upgrades

PS:
Before i get a "super-smart" answer... yes i know its 99% but still it gets calculated as 100%.
Keep away from the damn computer.
this
should only be upgradable one time.
com chair still isnt right yet.
the upgrade tree is still way too cluttered for whatever reason.
Agreed.
I also think that having Carbon & Plasma is an unnecessary complication.
You could just make it automatic, as the structure extracts resources it upgrades itself, gaining more health and faster extraction rate as it does so. Marine RTS could also gain things like a regenerating overshield or an automatic repair function which heals nearby structures or something, while alien RTs could spread DI further and get automatic umbra when under fire and a regen aura.

I actually like two forms of resources, but I think they should simplify it to something like:
Carbon = Personal resource, used for anything the player can buy (currently just weapons, hydras, personal upgrades)
Plasma = Team resource, used for anything the comm can buy (pretty much everything else; structures, upgrades, drifters/macs, health/ammo packs)
P.S. Obviously energy is not really a resource, but rather something closer to stamina.

technically its 33,333333333333333333333333...% per upgrade for 99,99999999999999999999....%, which <i>feels</i> like +100%
but, yeah. you're right.

ACTUALLY the real result would be ~2.35 plasma and carbon every 6 seconds as you're multiplying by 1.33 each time the previous result, not summing.
1 x 1,33 = 1,33
1,33 x 1,33 = ~1,77
~1,77 x 1,33 = ~2,35
1 x 1,33 = 1,33
1,33 x 1,33 = ~1,77
~1,77 x 1,33 = ~2,35<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
it says +33%, not *1.33. the + implies percentage of base value.
If you are adding just a fixed never-changing value then you should just tell "produces 0.3 units of more plasma" rather than use percentages which are more often used in cumulative manner (interest etc.). Anyhow this is rather silly debate, I yield.

This is pretty close to what we have except that plasma is for individuals and carbon is for the team. Yes we also have energy, but that's lesser used and is really only for structure abilities (distress beacon, umbra, etc.).
It's a bit confusing right now because the Commander UI doesn't do a great job showing what things cost (it doesn't show energy costs) and there's no tooltip or anything showing you the difference between carbon and plasma. I believe these two main resources are necessary for making NS2 scale properly for all team sizes (something NS1 never managed) but I'm still trying to figure out the simplest way to get that across.
The difference between carbon and plasma is shown on the scoreboard (default tab), or at least it illustrates clearly that carbon is used by the whole team and plasma is only individual. Plasma cost at an armory is shown, but not on the evolve menu, which could be a problem.
Negative. The command chair or Hive has it's own energy pool.
but, yeah. you're right.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Actually 0.99... = 1 and so 99.99... = 100
