Im away from home, and less time to check but gonna test on Saturday
Not sure if you have seen a thread I posted about this at http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=112031 which has some ideas?
A few posts into that thread has pretty pictures to see.
Cheers :)
the range indeed has to be reduced.
other thing annoying me currently, macs going through walls.
Are you joking by even asking this? :D Yes of course. Nice to finally see you guys, it's been long since the last videocast.
I've also subscribed the Wolfire youtube channel and i like the way they are documenting their updates with videos. It'd be awesome if you did that with every update too, provided that it doesn't take too much of your time.
One little thing that is in need of improvement is the camerawork. It seems like the camera is zoomed in or the fov is maybe too small so it looks strange...
Oh and... hi Brian :)
R.e. the video, nice to see the team. Brian's beard is epic. I thought for a second i thought it was Zach Galifianakis (Please don't take that personally!)
Anyway, super secret updates....sounds cool.
He will take that personally. After we saw the Social Network, I suggested that if they made a movie about Unknown Worlds then Zach Galifianakis would play Brian and he was not happy.
Thank UWE for such a good game!
Only thing i dont like is the non regenerating energy, when you are on fire. It makes the flamethrower even harder. Now a fade can only kill one single flamer, if you are lucky two of them...after this the fade has to be lucky not to meet a third marine while it is on the way home. No energy--->no Blink, no swipe ---->walking fade/dead fade
But I can't help but worry if everyone is being fed properly. I remember there being more members...
(I'm just jealous because my beard is about half of that)
LMAO.
Brilliant. Brian, we're just jealous, honestly!
It's either Zach or the not as awesome beard of Seth Rogan. Make your choice!
* The best bit in this video was the insight as to WHY the flamethrower was repurposed. (Hint hint, this is a good area for future videos!)
* The demonstration of new features. (For future videos, a before/after comparison would be very nice.)
The Bad:
* The music was annoying...
* The 'follow us' links should be at the end, not the beginning. (You need to first persuade people to want to follow you, and putting the links at the beginning irritates people because they want to see the video.)
* Cars in the backgorund. Made it very hard to hear you in some cases.
The Unknown:
* Top Secret Project: Dynamic Infestation? *Hopeful*
Final Grade: 83% (Good!)
The video is a great way to reconnect with your fan base, we all want to see if we are providing enough complaining to produce a full head of gray hair and Samsonite luggage under the eyes.
You might want to think about getting Brian as far from the window as possible, those cali sunny days he might turn into this--->

Well the game has the highest priority, and seeing as those members weren't needed that week and no on had had a meal for over four days... They did what they had to do... :P
Anyhow, just to mention wouldn't it be wise to work on that shaky camera with a tripod or something? Would come out looking a bit more professional. Otherwise its great to see your faces on video again, been ages since last time.
Maybe this is the start of some player QA that we have been waiting for some time now too (I hope).
Enjoying the patch so far, nice work ;)
Haven't checked out the build gameplay wise but performance is nice but i get a 50% framerate drop when i enter the command chair.
The new movement(max said so) makes walking stairs very "laggy"
hmm i want to know the secret ... NOW! ;-)
Its nice to see faces behind the names so keep the interview style of the video. Wolffire Alpha video style is nice but UWE style is better :)
If its easier to make, I wouldn't mind seeing just a few quick 'what are you working on' questions being asked once every few days from team members and just sticking them together in a video at the end of the week.
That's probably too demanding to do though all of the time.
I'd say 33.3% of each :)
But seriously, these dev videos are just what we need to feel more "connected" to you guys. Keep it up.
Can I suggest different camera angles? The way the camera was looking over their shoulder meant they were sort of awkwardly trying to turn around and at the same time look at the monitor.
I've only played one game on marines so far, but I did notice something odd. Marines were winning (using shotguns, not flame/nadespam :D) and we finally closed in on the last hive. Kill it? Guess what, the aliens put up another. We killed that one, aliens had another up. Killed that one, and they had one more up!
Admittedly I had to log out at that point, so I don't know how long that lasted. However, if the marines have aliens on the run, killing a hive every few minutes, should the aliens really be able to keep building hives that quickly? I don't know if they had to skimp on the upgrades or building spam in order to stay in the game, but it felt like a really drawn out and repetitive way to end the game. Even clearing out their res towers as we found them, the marines couldn't stop the aliens from building 3 hives in a row.

Why didn't marines build command chairs, res towers and sentries to stop aliens building new ones? If they could keep building new hives and res towers then it means marines didn't have any or were hopeless at defending? O.o
If you're dominating every hive you touch, do you need to be defending? If you STOP that push, you just gave up your win. In NS1, losing four hives in rapid succession would have spelled doom in almost any situation. People would have to balance their res between keeping hives up and evolving to defend.
I'm not saying NS2 should be just like NS1, but did you seriously tell me we should have stopped winning and started camping? XD
