Idea for DI

<div class="IPBDescription">DI doors</div>This is just an idea and I know that the DI is just a prototype to get us excited and what not but I still thought of an idea and I think I just type it down before I forget.

Well here is my idea:

At certain areas the DI can make a door like thing that opens to Kharaa but doesn't open for the Marines. It can be destoryed by the flamethrower and <b>maybe</b> with enough damage done to it by the marines it could die.

I think of them like the doors in Halo 3 when you go into the flood spaceship. The doors could open like then. Just a thought.

The doors will be as big as the normal marines doors that you can lock down with welding and that stuff. The little people and the skulk is just showing who is allowed through it.

I would like to read your ideas. Feedback please!

    I think it would be best if it was an effect that happens to marine doors.

    If DI grows over them and they aren't welded shut, it eventually starts to manually force the door open and closed for aliens but not marines.

    Good idea but...
    I would like to see the doors to be more Kharaa like than just infestated marine stuff. Maybe if the door is completly covered in infestation so you can't the door at all. That would cool.

    The problem is whether the 3D DI is going to have collision detection or not. I'd be thoroughly, thoroughly impressed if Max can get that to work in an on-line environment.

    I like the idea.

    The more that UWE can do with DI the more differentiated their game will be. DI Canals/Teleports are on the list already and DI doors would be cool too.

    Maybe it could be some sort of animation or something then? maybe a triggered animation as soon as the DI reaches to door?

    Yeah!
    It is a shame they remove the webs...

    The web corridors allowed Kharaa to get through and not the marines (Because they dont' want to get stuck and eaten)

    They said something about planning to add Web to Gorge's Spit as an upgrade, but it'll only work on infestation.

    So you <i>kinda</i> have what you wanted. (Doors made of webs. Webbed halls were effective in NS1.)
