  I believe that is planned. They mentioned they will be redoing the entire main menu interface to change it to lua (currently in flash).

  However, just so you know, the bottleneck is currently the CPU, not the GPU in terms of both client and server performance. And the bottleneck is currently the server, not the client in terms of online performance and playability.
  As it is, your GPU doesn't change much except for any errors specific to your card...

  the current menu is written in flash. They will rewrite it in lua. Once that is done, it will be easier to add new options. Until then, they won't modify the current menu.

  how about this: If it's not too much work, maybe UWE can implement some more console commands to improve performance, and then later tie them in with the new menu?
  
  R_shadows false really helped me get the game playable when I used a 8800gt. Similar commands for antialiasing and other stuff would be great
  
  
  edit: don't force MLAA for your AMD card btw, all the lamp-lights disappear :D
