How about we don't suggest warez techniques?

The only way you'll really be get a CD-key is if you purchase HL, unfortunately.

While you CAN get illegal copies of the game online with a CD-key online, this very illegal and wrong. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yes im definitley against the hacker crap. I did buy my copy legally but i have lost the cdkey. What im asking is if one of you guys could give me yours. And I dont want to download a key unless I really have to. AND I REALLY dont want to shell out $$$ for another copy. Any chance Sierra would give me a key?

Yes, actually. Sierra will be glad to give you a replacement key if you follow their directions to prove you are a legal owner of the product.

Unfortunately, sending them everything they want as this "proof" often costs just as much as buying a new copy fresh from the store. Contact Sierra customer support, and check your local costs for shipping such things by mail.

Bangs head on keyboard. Thanks for the help but boys, dont any of you have your own key kicking around? I was enjoying NS quite a bit and I want to play again. Paying money and waiting many, many weeks for results is definitley last resort.

People people.... store ALL your cd-keys in a safe spot. I don't know how many times I've read of people losing theirs.

Yes I have learned! but you must have yours so, little help?

If someone shares their CDkey, they are stupid. 2 people can't play at the same time with 1 key.
(Unless you're sharing it with someone you know and don't mind.)

Well, if he gave you his, he wouldn't be able to play anymore.

Just suck it up and buy another copy. I sold Half-life like 4 years ago, and had to buy another copy a few months back.

How about waiting for Valve's Steam 2.0 to be released? Sign up for the public beta (the beta for v1 was free) and be able to play any of the top mods like Ricochet, CS, DoD, and (in the future, though I don't know if it's the near future) NS. All you need is broadband and a system that'll run normal HL.

Also remember that nobody in his right mind will share a CD key with you by posting it to this forum, or it will go around the internet, in which case NEITHER of you can use it. Give contact info to do this information transfer privately (e-mail, instant message, etc.) and make sure both people involved are fully aware of the following.
    1. You won't both be able to play at the same time with the same key.
    2. There are legal issues involved if one of you hasn't obtained the game legally. Even if you both HAVE obtained the game legally, there still may be legal issues involved.

Alternately, if you live in an area without any computer-game-selling stores, it looks like doing some form of purchasing would be done online. With the time it takes to ship it to you, it's quicker (and perhaps cheaper, you need to check what you need to postal mail) to go the Sierra customer support route.
