While you CAN get illegal copies of the game online with a CD-key online, this very illegal and wrong. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Yes, actually. Sierra will be glad to give you a replacement key if you follow their directions to prove you are a legal owner of the product.
Unfortunately, sending them everything they want as this "proof" often costs just as much as buying a new copy fresh from the store. Contact Sierra customer support, and check your local costs for shipping such things by mail.
(Unless you're sharing it with someone you know and don't mind.)
Well, if he gave you his, he wouldn't be able to play anymore.
Just suck it up and buy another copy. I sold Half-life like 4 years ago, and had to buy another copy a few months back.
PS Im in the backwoods so getting another copy would be damn near impossible.
You could <a href='http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00001KUII' target='_blank'>order Half-Life</a>. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Also remember that nobody in his right mind will share a CD key with you by posting it to this forum, or it will go around the internet, in which case NEITHER of you can use it. Give contact info to do this information transfer privately (e-mail, instant message, etc.) and make sure both people involved are fully aware of the following.
1. You won't both be able to play at the same time with the same key.
2. There are legal issues involved if one of you hasn't obtained the game legally. Even if you both HAVE obtained the game legally, there still may be legal issues involved.
Alternately, if you live in an area without any computer-game-selling stores, it looks like doing some form of purchasing would be done online. With the time it takes to ship it to you, it's quicker (and perhaps cheaper, you need to check what you need to postal mail) to go the Sierra customer support route.
