I played the AvP Non-Public Beta at London Expo last year, just a month or so before release. It was terrible. NS2's frame-rate is much better than that was, and NS2 is much more stable (and Rebellion had an entire engine team). So props to Max and the gang. Great work so far. Don't be afraid to ask the community for anything you guys need.

First thing is what are your hardware specs?
list your processor, amount of ram, graphic card, and operating system.
next what is your frame rate average in game?
what setting is your resolution?
oh wait your just here to ######...

What do the marines get to balance that out?

Aside from the Shotgun? The ability to turn the lights back on, which would presumably disable Dark Vision. This is assuming the default state of each room will not remain as it is currently (Powered), and instead start in a neutral state (as it should if the game is to be driven by territorial control), with neutral lighting (no advantage to either side), and then change according to the controllling team (Kharaa-controlled rooms should be very dark at all times).

Play Castle Crashers that was a pretty sweet button masher.

What was this thread about? ...NS2 sucks or something....???

Um no it doesn't
yep that's my argument.

Prove it you say?
Because although it is not finished...it is fun...for me.
I play both sides and i have fun playing.

Yes, keep ignoring the obvious flaws of this game and you will get a bad product. Address the problems and we will have a successor of NS1. Actually you guys defending the current state of the game are like cancer to NS2 and its progress. It's like racism - if you stop talking and informing about it, it will get stronger and eventually it will lead to a bad outcome. Just be honest with the developers and tell them what is wrong. The game is far from average right now and this needs to change quickly - as the money gets fewer and the time goes on.

Of course there still are a lot of issues. Problem is, you don't mention any of them. I mean...load times, and load screens? who cares about that in a beta(and its actually still an alpha if your nitpicking)? Betafield has always had long load times, and its still a very popular game(and I've never seen many people complain about it).

The main problems are low/unstable server_rate(a.k.a lag) and balance. Currently I feel the game is like a turkeyshoot for the marines..at least when they get the shotties....but since all features are not in yet, I'm betting the game will get more balanced before build 200 :p

My reply was more about the general response about threads mentioning obvious flaws in the gameplay/technical side. You see, everyone making a thread here addressing those is laughed at or not taken seriously. They should be taken seriously as people want to give feedback but they are not taken seriously. Where will this forum go with this manner? In a near future only a small group of hardcore fans will give feedback here. There will be no constructive criticism in this board anymore.

In short:

- Graphics need significant improvement.
- Load times are horrible.
- Lag is still bad, making the game "unplayable" depending on how tolerant you are of warping around and having enemies warp around too.
- Performance is poor on great machines.
- Main Menu and out-of-game interface looks like a 5 minute job (which it might well be - just saying I hope it's not what the game goes to retail with).
- Serverbrowser sucks.
- Gameplay has changed far too much from NS1.
- Final version needs several modes (think L4D) to make it complete and give customers more choice/variety.

However, it's understandable because it's a small team with limited funding and a huge amount of things to do. Can only hope UWE stick at it and keep on improving things, as I'd love to see them establish themselves as a strong indie developer with NS being their marquee game. I'd certainly rather throw money at them than faceless, horrible corporations like Sega and EA who rush their developers into releasing games plagued by bugs (half of which never get fixed before the developers are forced to move onto the next project, or release purchasable DLC which does nothing to fix the bugs).

I'd also love to see UWE branch into other types of games with the NS brand. A pure RTS Natural Selection game would be fun, the game already has the units, weapons, buildings, upgrades and abilities for either side to make it work well and it's already part RTS anyway so I can imagine it crossing over really well.

It's not that they're not taken seriously, it's that we already know about these things, and the devs are already doing everything they can, and that people shouldn't act so surprised and (seemingly) personally insulted over the state of a beta.

This is just a glorified winge thread. The OP is comparing this game to polished and completed games, which NS2 is neither of. Also Thaldarin wins the thread with yellow text.

We need a "Vent Your Spleen" thread on this forum.

But since Stickies are often ignored, and a seperate forums would not attract much attention, this thread shall serve that purpose.

Actually, the title of the thread is less than perfect, so maybe someone should start another thread.
