<div class="IPBDescription">What do they do?</div>I was playing a game of NS2 in the current build 171 and we got the armour upgrades. I didn't see any increase in our armour level or anything. May I ask what it does?
It increases the amount of armor being used up before reducing health. But since it does not modify the damage you take, or increases the armor values, the difference is not really noticable.
There were 2 issues with the alien armor. The gameplay number adjustments were a WIP and not working properly, and on the technical side the basic code for them to be functioning at all was broken. That last one has been fixed, but I believe Charlie had been in the middle of making the gameplay adjustments awhile back, but had not had a chance to finish those changes up and check them in, as he'd probably been waiting for armor upgrades to first to be fixed on the technical side.
I would imagine this should be sorted inn the next full patch.

Imo, fixing this problem would help (effectively) nerf the SG, which is bloody over powered atm.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I agree with you there.
but some things I disagree with. For example, the shotgun is good against every structure and this is just not good.
I sure hope alien armor upgrades are beefed up, i would jump into the hive since the alien commander neglected to get any upgrades, get melee to #3 and armor to #3, melee had an obvious effect, but i couldn't see any real difference to armor. But then again thats probably because shotguns are a 1 hit kill even if only half the pellets hit.

Harvesters are the perfect example of this. It's absurd how fast they can go down. Perhaps applying the armor upgrade(s) for aliens to their structures as well would help alleviate this problem. To me this makes sense, armor upgrades in the "organic" context seem like they would be applied to the organic buildings too.

Seems like the armor absorption scalars just need to be more disparate so that you can clearly observe a difference in absorption.

Who said that madness!
I like it! I like it a lot!
UWE that idea that is brilliant!
+1
Of course, fix it where it actually does something meaningful first.
