Striving for perfection is a lovely idea but not something you can do if you want to continue to be able to make games after your very expensive failure to achieve it.
It's common knowledge in software design (though games might be completely different for all I now) that 90% of the work is done in 10% of the time. Somewhat less common knowledge is that two people don't work at twice the speed of one person. Even less (but still mostly) common knowledge is that you can't simply accelerate a time schedule (or compensate for a delay) by throwing more developers at a project. And so on and so forth. A game with 3X budget won't automatically be three times as good as one with X budget. Same for development time. And "perfection" is an artificial ideal we should strive for but not expect to actually achieve.
Find that hard to believe. P2 has nowhere near the replay value of TF2. Not that I think any virtual hat could be worth thirteen bucks, but even the most hat-obsessed have got to stop for a moment and wonder how much use a P2 hat would ever see.

Yeah, I've seen a couple of co-op partners with purchased skins. I don't really understand it either. You can't play Portal 2 co-op 100+ hours and still have fun like you can a FPS game. No point in it.

I don't think that even occurs to the kind of people they're marketing them to. Hopefully they start releasing new co-op levels soon because I played through it again and it was pretty boring the second time around. It's no fun when you know the solution to every puzzle and you're waiting for the other person to figure it out.
I've played the co-op through several times with different people and even the same one a few times, we've worked out different ways to grief, solve the puzzles, inventive ways to do many a thing. We even invented our own mini-game of "Portal DM", which is basically using turrets, cubes, rails etc. to kill each other on several levels. You can tell we got bored xD
The SDK should be coming out within the month from what I've been told, yet to see it confirmed though, there'll more than likely be a lot more interest in P2 mapping due to variation with several ways to go. With making stupidly complex challenges to making the more 'fun' ones Valve have created.

It's because you weren't playing it with me. Any game not played with me is, by default, not as fun as a game played with me.
I was honestly surprised when Stickman told me you weren't gonna play co-op with him. How could you abandon your moirail, Monkfish? You run the risk of leaving a quadrant empty!

Eh, it's in the Tag! game they took the paint/gel idea from, and it does get kinda confusing. And that's when you walk slow. It's one addition I can do without

It would have been cool if they had "attraction" gel as well as the repulsioin gel...like a positive and negative charge. Would have made a little more sense at least from real world physics. Would be like playing with a bunch of magnets.
I always thought "sticky" gel would have been awesome. Run on speedy gel, bounce on bouncey gel.... smash in to a wall of sticky gel, slowly slide down. Bang tidy!
I've never gotten nauseous from a game, the only time I've heard of it with anyone I know is with my sister that watches me play time to time but I think that has more to do with not being in control and watching stuff I don't concentrate at. It would have been sweet if they had included it :(
Maybe future modding can do it? Change color of already existing goop and change its properties.

The sticky gel was never really nausea inducing, it was just... boring. Of all the paints in the game, it was the worst. It felt like it was added because it's the kind of thing you expect spray on magic paint to do. Plus there's the fact that surface orientation is always a pain in the ass to get right with things like that, and one thing that is standard in portal is that you're never not facing down (for more than a second or so). Changing that mechanic for the relatively few parts of the game that'd use the gel would be annoying.
Here's the game the gel mechanics came from, if anyone's interested and doesn't already know. I think Valve got the team much like they did with the original Narbacular Drop guys, but I'm not sure.
So the upcoming DLC is going to be free. Yes, the hats are completely ridiculous, but if I'd get to pick whether I want a level store and free hats or a hat store and free levels... who the hell cares about hats anyway?

I can sympathise, there's been portal 2 threads on every forum but I can't say I've been too keen to discuss it. I really liked the game, didn't want to ruin it with people going 'oh my god cake thinking with portals omg guys so funnyyyyyyy' etc.
Not everyone I know, but it does attract some rather annoying fans.
